Compassion and Freedom believes that everyone should have the freedom and the right to choose for themselves. We support compassion and the compassionate use of Marijuana. We are residents of California and live in a community that is trying to support medical marijuana. We support the states where the voice of the people has enacted laws that allow qualified patients to obtain therapeutic medical marijuana. We urge these states to responsibly provide programs to support these laws.

This includes: providing enforcement to safe, reliable, and responsible access to medical marijuana; consistent education to law enforcement to ensure a clear understanding of patient and caregiver rights; and clear definitions of state laws, federal laws, and individual rights.

The United States' federal government has maintained a firm anti-drug stance with marijuana. The actions of the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) have been extreme in trying to maintain their zero-tolerance position. Users of medical marijuana, prescribing physicians, and those who support these patients (caregivers) by providing safe access to medical marijuana should not be victimized when questioning the sovereignty of states rights versus federal authority. People of these states who should feel neither threatened nor intimidated-and fear arrest, property forfeiture, fines and imprisonment.

Why we care? We believe that everyone should have the right to choose alternative medicine and remedies that help reduce pain from life threatening, debilitating diseases or illnesses.

Medical marijuana is simply a plant that grows from the ground from a seed nourished by water and sunlight. It is a natural, herbal remedy that has existed for thousands of years.

In the United States, marijuana is classified as a Schedule I drug of the 1970 Controlled Substances Act. This strictest classification is given to drugs deemed to have "no currently accepted medical use." We believe this classification is simply wrong.

There is enough current evidence from scientific research, doctors, and patients that suggests that medical marijuana is effective for some people. Therefore, every effort should be made to re-classify medical marijuana to ensure that all of its benefits are explored.

Our mission is to simply raise awareness regarding this controversial topic. We want to shed light on the struggle that patients, caregivers, and doctors face who support this issue. We want to tear down the misconceptions perpetuated by the stereotypes, stigmas, and characterization of marijuana users.

One of our many goals is to help change the perception and attitude of medical marijuana through a greater understanding of this issue and the facts.

Portions of the proceeds collected through sales of our wristbands will be donated to organizations (NORML, MPP, Angel Wings Patient OutReach) supporting the fight for this cause.

Note: Show Compassion. Support the Freedom to choose Medical Marijuana. Get your 'Compassion' & 'Freedom' wristband and show your support. Why should you wear our 'Compassion' and 'Freedom' wristband? Because you believe that patients have the right to choose medical marijuana. Voice your opinion while the Supreme Court prepares to hand down their decision in the historical case, Ashcroft vs. Raich.
