Allright blades this is my first successful grow so far I have 1 grapefruit fem under a 85 watt bulb in a solo cup heres the thing I plan on topping, fimming, and Lsting. But the real question is what should I do first I think there 2 weeks old and on there second set of leaves. I think I should top them first then fim the 2 tops I have topped then LST cause that sounds the most difficlt of all the training processes.(fyi I dont think I will be topping or fimming once I start Lst please help me
I'm pretty new to this myself, but as far as I can tell you can either FIM or Top your plants, not both. Unless you topped it, waited for the two main branches to start growing and then FIM those, but i've never heard of that. I would imagine cutting off the leading branches so often would stunt the plant and add a few weeks to the overall growth time. then again, i could be wrong...
It's allright thx for the reply though im leaning towards only fimming and maybe topping when I switch to 12/12, but should I fim now on the second set or wait for the third and fourth.
Topping and fimming are basically variations on the same thing -- cutting the new growth to cause multiple main stems to grow. This causes the plant to spread out more rather than grow straight up. LST is not hard at all, it's just a way of physically manipulating the plant to grow the way you want it to (usually to control height and maximize secondary budsites). Don't top or FIM until after at least the 4th node.
