hey all, I am using a 400 watt metal halide in a 2' by 3' space and was planning on hanging two flourecents (one on each side) during flowering. they would be hung below the colas, to give more light to the smaller flowers. is this a waste of time or can you combine different kinds of light to better produce a full spectrum.
MH is really good for Veg and Hps is good for Flowering, if you create a full spectrum with an even balance of both (what i do is i start with 2 MH 100 watt along with a 150 watt HPS for veg, and then at flowering i switch one over to hps 100 watt and put in a 175 watt MH, so i have 2 hps's and one mh creating a full spectrum), along with a few cfls for lower leafs, the flourecents wouldn't be a waste of time but i suggest soft white fluorescent they like the darker rays better for flowering.
