  1. hey dudes. so first of all, can a college ban the use of medical marijuana from you in your home (my home currently = dorm room) as you're permitted to do so as an mmj patient? i'm guessing yes, but it's something i wanted to ask before my next question

my college dorms aren't connected/aren't a part of to campus, but the conduct code states you can't have any mmj on campus not dorms. well, i'm just about sign a roommate agreement and at the bottom they slipped in accordance of the student conduct code that i can't have mmj or paraphernalia in my room but the conduct code clearly refers to the campus. i'm gonna have to sign the piece of crap eventually, but i just wanna know if others thing their reference is invalid so i can fight it if i need to for conduct.

bullshit how colleges pull this shit when it's been legalized for patients in this state.

  2. 1) Private Property
    2) There's NOTHING in any state laws where MMJ is legal PROTECTING the patients from discrimination in jobs, benefits or housing.

    so

    3) Yes, even as a legal patient you can be discriminated against by your college.

  3. Okay, dam, that's what I thought. So technically I'm not allowed to legally smoke mmj anywhere since you're only supposed to smoke at home (that's what it says on my rec i believe) since my home is currently someone else's property.

well whatever, i'll just have to keep my stuff hidden well and just sign the paper. thanks will

  4. consider getting a place off campus/non-school affiliated. I know housing in Kali is hella expensive, but compare the cost of food for a semester to the cost of the meal plan, and the cost of housing (especially with roommates) to the cost of a dorm.

I did the cost assessment, and by packing lunches to school I got off cheaper eating on my own than with the meal plan, and my apartment was $100 a month more than the dorm, but it was a 2 br 1 bath with NO roommate.
you wind up trading the typical dorm problems (noise, parties, etc) the the headaches of living on your own (cooking, food shopping, cleaning, etc) but in the end it may be better.
don't forget to factor in the cost of transportation--does your school run a bus line? Can you get an apartment near it? Does it have enough room to ride when you need to get to class? you may need to arrange to leave earlier to guarantee a ride on the bus. how much is a parking pass and gas? How close are the parking lots to class?
these are the kinds of things you need to factor in. if your folks are footing the bill, a cost assessment may help them to decide in your favor. just make sure to keep on top of potential problems so it works out.
i guess the biggest thing is being honest with yourself and deciding if you can handle the responsibility right now. Not a lot of kids your age can.

  5. my school's up by the bay area but they specifically say they "do not permit the use of marijuana for any purpose on University property. Students who qualify under California Proposition 215 to use marijuana for medical purposes are not permitted to possess, store, -provide, or use the marijuana on University-owned or controlled property (including but not limited to residence halls, academic buildings, athletic -facilities, and parking lots), or during a University-sanctioned activity -regardless of the location. Students who violate this policy are in violation of the Student Conduct Code and are subject to disciplinary action (32)."

copied from my school webpage so im sure you can find something if you dig around on google

  6. If your up for it take the issue to your state supreme court see what happens

  7. What he said ;). Gotta fight for your rights.

  8. Everything is so fucked, you live in a state where you have legal mmj and your school wont allow it, on the other hand my school doesnt give a shit and its only decriminalized in my state

  9. My school drug tests athletes and i know a few that have failed their test and still played with no penalty at ALL

  10. ^^^^ that's y it needs to be taken to the state supreme courts to make it legal I promise ifthe state says its cool the school will HAVE to allow it

  11. By the time that a test case would GET to the State Supreme Court he'd be out of school.

  12. living off campus is probably your best bet if you dont want to get in trouble. But people smoke in their dorms without getting caught all the time. is it smart? no, is it possible? yeah

  13. Supreme Court is too corrupt anymore and has been for about 70 or more years. As ironic, backwards, and technically illegal as it is, school codes/laws trump state/federal laws. You don't believe me? Can't carry a gun on a campus even with a concealed weapon permit, which means school codes/laws trump the constitution since they limit your right to bare arms, even legally concealed arms. Kinda bizarre how a public/privately owned institution backed by state/federal funds can so limit the rights of the same citizens who support the very institution which seeks to limit their rights.....

  14. Please stay ON TOPIC - we're not discussing politics here

  15. So what we need to do is educate the school staff! WRITE THOSE PRO-MMJ PAPERS! Then we can end up with more schools like these! :D

"my school doesnt give a shit and its only decriminalized in my state" \t

"My school drug tests athletes and i know a few that have failed their test and still played with no penalty at ALL \t"

Once the whole staff realizes that cannabis is relatively harmless, the penalties will lessen or disappear! :hello:

But YOU have to educate them! See that first link in my sig? Click it! That is where you will find the PubMed studies to do those MMJ papers you need to do!

You will also find news articles about the studies, that are way easier to read than the "Sci-Speak" studies- think of them like CliffsNotes! ;) Read the news articles, then (maybe) the study! Cite the study, not the article.

As soon as the facts are known about cannabis, the need for legalization becomes obvious! :smoke:

    Granny

  16. We're not? Since when are LAWS not political? Since when are COLLEGES not political? Where does politics NOT fit into this discussion? Politics is EXACTLY what this entire post is about.

  17. Then take this to the POLITICS forum. This is the Medical Marijuana forum in case you haven't noticed.

I think this thread has served it's purpose.
