Cold intake?

  1. blah i might have a few more new threads then most. Im just setting up again and wanting to make sure everything is okay b4 i start.

Im going to be doing this in the winter with cold weather. So my window will be a jar and i will be taking cold winter air from outside. Im just conserned b.c i know cold air changes colour and causes the plants to well not do so good. What should i do? :(

  2. Your rooms air is just fine. A house exchanges air faster then you think.

  3. you sure? alot of people have told me i need to make sure my i have a positive intake comming in all the time to insure maximum air efficiency

So your talking about just leaving the growroom window open? You in a tent or a whole room?

  5. Postive.

You live in a pressurized atmosphere. When you set up your fan on your tent you will notice when its on the sides will be sucked in some. Thats negative air pressure. Your creating a imbalance and air is rushing in to equalize it cept the fan is powerfull enough to over come that. When you turn it off the tent looks normal again because the air pressure has equalized itself. For myself when my lights are on I open a bottom flap and if you put your hand there you can feel the breeze coming in.

Its why say in a explosion windows get blown out. Its from rushing air actually usually. The explosion caused a over pressurized bubble and its seeking to equalize itself and the windows get hit with the pressure wave.

Anyhow poor example but you dont need to connect anything to the window. People who do usually are using a AC unit and AC units exhaust hot air so they want to send that hot air outside no keep it indoors.

  6. ok, thanks. Im also just useing a whole room as well. No tent so still brings me to have to leave my window ajar a tad and box it around making it airtight for me to send my bad air out.

  7. It works great. I don't grow during the summer Becuse it to hot. So during the winter I flip my inline fan around and suck the cold air outside to cool my light and whole room. With a 1k light it works perfect.

  8. so u have your inline reversed? blowing cold air onto your hot 1k light? sounds great but isnt that not good? couldnt the light break?

I haven't had a problem with it but my lows are in the 40-50 when it's on. I am not pumping freezing air into the hood.

  10. No the light will not break lol.

  11. I have my inline ported directly into my Central Air...no issues with breaking :hello:

  12. Your best bet jenny is to hook all of it up do a dry run. Record the temps in that config, ambient air etc.

Remember that you never will get it below ambient air temperatures, and the tent will always be higher. So your room temperature directly effects the temp of the inside of the tent.
