Coco Ph and run off Ph

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by vibrationalprimate, Aug 6, 2017.

  1. hey guys. So I noticed my run off Ph is very low and was wondering if it is an issue. I put in 5.8 ph water and the run off was 4.6. from what I can tell this isn't normal. Anyone know what's up??

  2. What nutrients are you using and per gallon measurements I'm also running Coco coir

  3. Sounds like your feeding too heavy but without the info I can't help you what's the ppm in and out as well

  4. Hey unfortunately I don't have a Ppm meter but I am running biobloom and cannaboost

2ml per litre for each twice a week and watering once in between.

  5. Just a idea but Coco absorbs Cal mag you should get some ebsom salt and calmag mix Cal mag first then ebsom salt then cannaboost then biobloom feed calmag at 3ml per gallon and ebsom salt at 1/5 tsp per gallon...... What exactly is cannabis boost is it a micro nutrient? You only need micro, bloom, calmag, and ebsom salt for coco the entire grow after week 3 feed it 9mls bloom, 6mls micro, along with calmag and ebsom salt this would be a lucus formula but it works really well and the plants love it that's all per gallon just FYI

  6. If the cannabis boost isn't a micro nutrient get a micro nutrient and set the can a boost back for the first 2 weeks of flower and the last 2 weeks you'll thank me later the lucus formula shouldn't have to be Ph'd but you might need to severely reduce the nutes or get a hydro cleaner and flush a little bit you've been over feeding from what I understand and not giving a complete nutritional feeding

  7. I used cal mag in veg and have read a few times not to continue the calmag after week 2 of flower.

  8. Not true in Coco at all Coco absorbs cal.mag and if your s
Using leds you need Cal mag or your leafs will start showing signs and eventually turn yellow and die off

  9. I'm not familiar with those nutes so I can't comment. Could you post a pic? How old is the plant? Did you pre-charge the coco? Did you add perlite to the mix? Tap water or r/o? Coco should never be just watered with water. More info and pics would help? Regarding your pH going in - I have found that 6.0 works the best because calcium and magnesium are best absorbed at 6.0 or higher. Are you using a pH meter and is it calibrated?

  10. That's a new one on me. I use led's and I have never added cal/mag, and I never have a discolored leaf from start to finish.

  11. It's not a new one it's a fact that LEDs will cause a plant to feed more on Cal mag and Coco coir will absorb large about of Cal mag you may have hard water but I also use ro water I didn't think about that but the combination of Coco coir and led will definitely cause a deficiency unless your feeding a designed Coco formula

  12. If you use r/o water and don't use coco specific nutes you will always need cal/mag - doesn't have anything to do with the light in my opinion. My grows are a perfect example of that.

  13. For some Reason LEDs cause my plants to feed fast and pigout and my first led grow I had this issue in dwc then I feed Cal mag the it always stops spreading and several people will also tell you the same thing especially in Coco coir spacificly or hydro applications

  14. Could the issues you describe be caused by using r/o water? Rather than the light? A cal/mag deficiency is almost expected if r/o is used. I've been growing in coco for years and never had a problem.

  15. First Coco grow but I did a ton of research first and I gotten Cal.mag probs with a water before under LEDs I think k it depends on strain and howlight you feed I feed lighter than photos I grow autoflowers but I'm going off one of my experiences and several other people most people will agree that Cal mag intake under is higher

In my current grow, I have no added calmag. Only supplementing 1/4 teaspoon Epsom salts. For veg I used mircle-gro, but recently switched to dyna-geo bloom. But I don't have any calcium issues. I growing in pure coco. I also add that I am using tap water.

  17. Hey people. Yes I am using a Ph meter and it is calibrated. Though I am waiting for some new calibration powder to arrive. I am using 600w HPS. The ph going in is 5.8. It's on about week 6 of flower. I will post photos when they are out of the dark room.

  18. I had issues with ph of coco dropping dangerously low because I was allowing the medium to dry out. If the coco stays moist the ph shouldnt swing so much during run off.

  19. I always thought you should leave the medium to dry before watering

  20. You should not allow coco to significantly dry out. At max in my 3 gallon air pots pure coco, I will generally water every 3 days ish. Soon as I see the top of the medium dry a little I water. Biggest part is you want a good runoff otherwise you will get nutrient buildup, salts, and pH swings. All 3 are not good for the plants. Just imagine as the water drys up all nutrients, and salts become more concentrated. That's the main issue by allowing the coco to dry up. Also you can end up with dry spots inside your coco, which isn't good for the root zone.
