Coco coir and ph

Discussion in 'Micro Grows' started by yorkweed, Nov 16, 2012.

  1. Hi all,

Would anyone know what adding coco coir strings would do to the Ph of soil mix incorporating peat moss, humus, and perlite ? Thx

  2. coco is usually very neutral and it will take on the PH of whatever you mix it with. You might want to start with a good flushing of the coco.

..also depending on the texture of the coco it might make it so that you will have to water more or less often. Finer coco ( pith) will hold more water longer and the more texturous chunks or strings of coco will hold much more air..which is great for the roots but will require a little more watering. I've found that roots like a good balance in between.
