Any of you fine brothers or sisters have any experience with using Stonington as a base for no till? I am contemplating starting another indoor grow and looking for an easy button. I’ve heard good things and read here on GC of people using with success, but I see no mention of using Stonington as a notill/limited till soil. Possibly not super long term in this media but perhaps good enough for 6-8 ish cycles? Any thoughts on any additional amendments/rock dusts(basalt/azomite) I have on hand. Any thoughts on reamending?
I cannot speak for Jerry. But, when we were discussing COM blends it was almost always Quoddy Blend Lobster compost. And then, it was used as the humus portion of our no-till growing medium. That made it easier for those with limited space to build a good quality no-till medium.
Hi TimJ good to hear from you! I have 2 x 30gal totes going right now that I used the lobster compost in and they are doing well! I was drawn to it due to being cost effective and am glad I did!
Actually my last build I threw the lobster compost in a tote with some rice hulls(portion I was adding to my build anyway)and let a couple good handfuls of wigglers romp in it for about a month!
I ran quoddy blend once and found it needed more perlite/rice hulls than other bagged composts I've tried in the past. It was a very heavy blend. I use COM seed start and my girlfriend uses the COM potting soil for her patio plants.
