The big question, do i spend a little more money and get co2 regulator/bottle/controller? How big of a deal/task will it be in a room size of 18x14x7ft??? Im very undecided about co2, i know it is proven for vigoruous growth, but i've sceene both and not sold.. any one wanna convince me on a route? co2 or no...
hmm, that's a big room...co2 can increase growth/yield by up to 5x...it will take quite a bit of co2 to do that room tho. co2...a theory; Plants have been around for possibly millions of years..there used to be much more co2 in the atmosphere back then...some think the ability of Cannabis (and other plants) to utilize more co2 than what is currently in the atmosphere to left-over genetics from way back then...current co2 levels in our atmosphere are around .03% or 300ppm...a cannabis plant can actually use up to about 2000ppm or .2%, and around 3000ppm is lethal to you and your plants. If you go the co2 route, do it right, a generator or prolly a 50lb tank. You will have to control it, tho. Also remember co2 is cooler and heavier than air, so dispense it over the canopy. Hope this helps you decide! Good Luck!
Are there plants in it? If yes, then my answer would be yes...any size grow will benefit from co2...just be careful not to overdo it, cuz it's harder to control in smaller cabs. Here's something to think about...you are a co2 generator, and singing makes you produce more co2 than just breathing, so in a small grow you can just go sit with them and sing and increase the co2 available to the plant(s). Sounds kinda dorky? LOL, cuz it is....but it works! Plants only use the co2 during photosynthesis, so don't worry about singing to them during the dark cycle, unless, like me, you just need the practice....
Enrichment is unrelated to room size or plant numbers. Any size room will benefit from proper use of CO2.
im sold on co2 and always will be. if you have enough lights then it seems like it always in your favor to do it. fast math, by your room size i would think 8-12 lights. so call it 8-12 pounds. if you got the 10% from co2 it would be an extra poundish give or take. imo worth it. if your room is very small the % may not seem worth the intial setup cost.
to me this is true to a point, alot of people here use cfls and what not. im not sure co2 would really do much for them since they are short on actual light. and more so when they are talkin cfl it seems that it comes out at a oz or two per run, so 10% more would only be a few grams.
hemphero, If you're seriously considering co2, get a burner rather than a tank/regulator setup. In a room that size you'll be swapping out tanks every 2-3 days, if not sooner. Logistically, it's a nightmare trying to get your tank filled so often and it could raise some eyebrows. With a burner, you can plumb it into your existing gas service (if you have gas available) or use a propane tank which is a hell of a lot easier to get refilled. By all means invest in a controller to regulate the ppms of co2 in your grow space. There are controllers available that will manage heat/humidity/cooling/fans and co2 all at once, and if you shop right, you can get them for under 500 bucks. I got a Sentinel CHHC-1 on EBAY for $457.00 with free shipping but I had a 10% off coupon. If you don't feel like spending $500 or so to control co2, get something like this: PPM-4 CO2 Monitor Works great but only controls co2, not fans and such but can be plugged into a unit that does.
