CO2 Unsafe unvented?

  1. I have a 4' x 2' x 8' (tall) closet that I am growing 16 plants hydroponically with the bubbler system with the plants extremely close together. I am trying to plan a way to suppliment CO2 to my closet, however just outside the closet is where me and my girlfriend live. We only have a 1 bedroom place and it isn't huge. I was planning on buying a 10-20 lb CO2 tank and running fans (both inside the closet and just outside) on timers to vent the space out every few hours, however there is no ventilation from outside the closet to outdoors, it just vents into our home. Is that dangerous?

Again I am wondering if the CO2 vented into my home could become dangerous in any way. My closet space is a mere 64 Cubic Feet and only 8 Sq feet and wouldn't require lots of CO2. I was also only planning on increasing CO2 levels to around 900 PPM, but again could this pose a danger?

Thank you. Please be specific as possible, safety is my first concern. :)

  2. im pretty sure it wont harm you, i dont think it will get high enough ppm in your place to harm you and your girlfriend.

  3. i know for a fact that too much co2 in your living space WILL harm you! With a 10 or 20lb tank you have the ability to let a bunch into the home... co2 sinks to the ground so make sure your beds are up off the floor. I know that brief exposure isnt very bad unless the ppm is over 2000. without a meter, you have to do the math of your rooms size, vs the output from the tank per hour. Instead of airing out your closet because you pay for that co2 and it just ends up going out the window, air out your other rooms instead to make sure that the oxygen is replenished in the home. I like to use a negative pressure system that keeps a very small vaccuum in the room to make sure that no co2 goes into the living space, however you will need a hole into the attic for this.... hope this helps.
