    Hi Folks,

I've been hospitalized twice for Major Depression Disorder (I've got all the documentation). I was wondering if I could get a Medical Card in Colorado for this disease. Pot is the only thing that helps me. Regular anti-depressants make me feel like a zombie, and I'd rather be depressed than a drone.

I think my depression could possibly fall under the 'chronic pain' category. Does anybody know if this is possible?

  2. AFAIK, no. you'd probably have a tough time arguing the chronic pain part too. if you could, id definitely have a card right now

  3. Thank you for your replies. I'm in Colorado as we speak, I just never bothered to edit my profile. I have a lot of family and long time friends that live here now. I wanted to be close them, so I moved.

I need medical pot. I don't want to game the system, but I honestly feel I have a medical need. I'm a better human being when I can get a little relief once in awhile. I have never gotten stoned and felt like eating a mouthful of buckshot.

  4. totally know how you feel bud. i dont want to have to cheat the system either but they make it real easy here. especially if they arent goin to have depression on the list of approved health issues, thats probably what more people use it for than anything else (health related) in a general sense.

  5. Honestly, if it's that bad, it's worth gaming the system. There are studies to prove that it treats depression, but it hasn't been petitioned to be added to the list, so there isn't any harm IMO.

I don't even know what physical ailment I could claim to have, or what documentation I would need to 'prove' it. Do I even require any at all, or will they take my word for it?

  7. currently you are "supposed" to have supporting medical records, but you don't NEED them to get a card.

This is what my doctor hands out before accepting an apointment with him so he can veryify whether or not you qualify before taking your money....

What makes you a good MMJ card applicant?
    • You suffer from cancer, glaucoma, HIV, cachexia, severe pain, severe nausea, seizures or persistent muscle spasms.

    • You have already been diagnosed by a doctor in the past, treated medically and have medical records that document this.

    • You have current records showing your diagnosis is still active.

    • Your diagnosed condition debilitates you in that it significantly prevents performance necessary life-functions or work.

    • You have tried (or still use) traditionally accepted standards of medical care and want to apply for a MMJ card because you believe it is an appropriate adjunctive or alternative therapy that will help restore normal functioning to your life.

What makes you a poor MMJ card applicant?

    • Your diagnosed condition is not accepted as a reason to use MMJ.

    • Your condition has not been diagnosed by a Physician.

    • You lack medical documentation to differentiate your true medical case from a story.

    • You lack current medical documentation to show your condition is still ongoing.

    • You’re not currently doing something to treat your condition, which may denote you're neither suffering from or have a problem.

    • Your condition is not chronic, or current.
    • You cannot present your condition as being severe or debilitating
You would most likely fall under the second catagory with no prior diagnoses or treatment for a disease, which my doctor would probably turn you down for... Fudging the system is possbile but your not going to be able to find a doctor willing to do it for something you obviously made up(at least most doctors will not do this). The questing you really have to ask yourself is "Is my doctor going to lose his license for giving me my recomendation?" In most circumstances it would be no.

You may be able to get the doctors recommendation signed but to actually have it aproved by the state is another story.... If you mail in your rec without a copy of any medical records or a reasonable explanation from your doctor then you will no doubt be denied.
