CMH recommendations

I am getting ready to do a lighting comparative thread with the lights I have (hps and qb120's) and decided I want to add a 315w cmh into the mix since 3 of my 4 cabinets will be open. The problem is, I have no idea what would be the best choice for me to go with......

I could get a cheap kit or a conversion kit and bulb for one of my sunsystem hoods (without the glass) sitting in storage for about the same price.

I know there are better options out there though this is more in my price range

 

No one? Ah well, found my answer on a different forum......

Instead of using my old sunsystem hood, I am going to buy a
newer one as it looks like it has a better spread, can be air cooled and has an s plug so I don't have to worry about adapters.

Here is the ballast I decided to go with as it specifically says low frequency, square wave tech...... they say all cmh ballasts do though most of them say "Very Cute Design"....I wanted to get the Prism one though they won't ship to my location. And last but not least, here is the lamp to go with it

So i'll have a pretty decent 315w cmh for $208.82 instead of $4-500.00 for a branded one

 

Yeah, I found a pretty extensive thread on them.... I just didn't like the $500.00 starting price here so went with what I knew though wasn't really satisfied and was looking at other lighting options when TBone posted about the qb120's. Now I really want to try the cmh..... people keep raving about them here.

I would still be wanting though found a good price for the conversion kit and just so happened that my local grow store has their hoods on sale and scored a nice wide one (32.5 x 26.25 x 7.75") for 80.00.

Next up, is the lamp.....they go for 140.00 at my local grow store so i'll probably order one for 60-80.00 - worth it if they last as long as people claim
