  1. So its a 3x3x8 closet, iv got it all sealed and I'm gonna repaint it white, it has a 1x1 (preexisting) hole up top which iv left for now, and iv got a sunsystems 150 hps lamp, useing earth as a medium, bottom feediing them, and now I need a air vent, I can cut wholes in doors and what not but id like to keep it cheep and simple, mostly id like to know how big a fan, what kind of filters I should get and how I should set it up, basically assume I know nothing about ventilation lol, and thanks for any help

  2. Where foes that hole goto?

If you havent bouggt the lights yet I would use that exhaust hole to run an ait cooled hood with a 400w MH or hps bulb with a 6" exhaust fan and a diy carbon filter. this way you can cut some holes in the doot and those will become a passive intake

If you already have the light I would get an air cooled hood and run a 4" exhaust fan/diy scrubber

  3. you mind putting some links "up for me? also I'm trying to do this cheep, likee 50-100.... if possible

  4. Links to what? What do/dont you have right now? And you are spending the 50_100 on what?

I made many mistakrs settimg up my 4x2x5 tent so let me make tge mistakes for you and ill help you get setup and running as best as I can

  5. I ment links to a good distributor for fans and such, right now I have a fully sealed 3x3x8 closet and 150w hps lamp, iv got the closet all setup wiith everything BUT the ventilation, lamp is hung, plants inside, but its obviously getting hot in there so I need a vent setup, iv got like 100 bucks to spend on it buut id like to invest wisely obviously. I am here to learn, but reading through the forums I got lost,

  6. Perfect. this might seem like overkill but I would get a 6" hydrofarm active air inline fan with a speed controller for sure. they can be had on amazon.com for 70_80$ and you can get free shipping. This leaves you with way more then enough extra power should you ever move up to a 400/600/1000w setup.

If thats too much then get the 4" version like I have. The price difference is like 15$ between both sizes .

If you dont plan on ever goibg past 150w then get the 4".
As far as carbin filter lookup a diy filter on the forums theg are super cheap and easy and will work nearly S good if not as good

Also, my 4" fan keeps my tent at around 83 when I dont.have my ac on (i have house ac duct into my intake port) and thats with an air cooled hood.

Without the air cooled hood I was lookimg at 90-95degrees

Also look into small fans to blow air around in the cabinet. They will help prevent mold and make the stems/branches stronger

  8. Ok so sayy I get the 4" fan, how would I then utilyse it? Like do I mount it as an intake in my door? In the ceiling hole I already have? The diy filters seem super easy but this is an old ass place, not ducting or anything to work off of,

  9. Use that as your exhaust. That fan will have enough power so that when you drill holes in the door, fresh air will be sucked inside through the holes, eliminating the need for an intake fan. You want the fan sucking air out and you will want it at the top because thats where heat will rise to.

Whats on the other side of that hole in the wall?

  10. EmppJust an empty crawlspace or some such, I plan on the diy filter and a ONA bucket to eliminate odors, and just out of curuisity wouldn't I want filters over the holes for airflow and just make moore hoolles to compensate for the filters? I ask cause id figure the holes in the door might make for a bug or mold inpoint and is this a weekness in my "deffenses"

  11. Perfect. Setup your fan/filter at the top and vent everything into that crawl space.

Now as far as mounting you have two options either directly into wall

    Or

    suspended onindustrial strengrh bungie cords.

This is because although the fans are fairly quiet, they vibrate a shitload. If that noise isnt an issue then mount it to the wall but if you live in a duplex or something and.have neighbors on the other side they migbt question the noise

As far as intaje you could probably put up some pantyhose over tge intake holes

  12. Iv got a shit ton of marine core 550 cord I can use, so your saying I should suspend the fan and basically have a small ductwork to the hoole in the wall so the fan doesn't vibrate against the neighbors wall all night, anything I should know about that? Ways to or not to hang it? Iv got nothing but time so id like to do this right yah know, my first time aroound I had a bucket a light and ended up with a 5 foot plant that died of fungus gnats, that's dealt with and I'm doing this right so ANYTHIING is appreciated, you've been a huge help already

Not really aure what marine core 550 cord... But yes the exhaust mounted up top with a tiny.bit of duct work will be great. The.thing.about mounting is if you mount it to a wall it will cause vibrations for sure. There are ways to reduce that but.to eliminate all vibratons you would want to attach to industrial sttrngth bungee cords, not regular bungees lol. This way the fan is suspended in the air and your walls or nrighbors walls arent shaking.

For pest preventative and treatment get some neem oil from your local mursery or grow shop and apply once a week as a foliar spray. Its completely natural and.organic and protects against a lot of pests and.fungi. It is also safe to be used up until last 2-3 weeks of flower

Any more questions ask away. I learned so much from this grow--its my first. Im more then happy to pass around the knowledge ive learned and im only a month or so ahead of you!

  14. Now iv done a biit more looking into it but nobody seems to point out many negatives of using a walmart style fan and a bit of ingenuity versus buying a premade 100 dollar fan, obviously iit will take longer to work, but is it reallly that big a difference? If so, how?
