Closet door?

  1. I'm starting a new closet grow and I needed a door thatI could put a hole in for ventilation, because I cant put a hole in the exsisting door. My friend gave me an old door and I put the vent in and everything in that it needed. But when i went to put the door on....... IT WAS 2 INCHES TO WIDE!! perfect height, just to wide. Do you think its possible to remove 2 inches from one side of the door? BTW its not a solid door.

Id rather not change the position of the lock etc... so i think cutting the door from the other side is a better idea. I do have a table saw, jigsaw, and everything I would need.

My question is.. is it feasable?

  2. yes, just cut away the excess should work out fine

  3. ya for real cutting it is cool

  4. but after I massacre the door wouldnt there be no place to put the hinges??

  5. you can reuse em or go to home depot

  6. set your tablesaw for the size you want your door to be. remove the hinges from the door and run the door through the saw with the lock (knob) side against the fence.this will leave a gapeing hole on the hinge side. measure the width and length of this hole and cut a piece of wood to fill the hole. the plug needs to be at least 3/4" thick. glue the plug in with wood glue and clamp it for a couple of hours. when dry run the door through the tablesaw once more to clean it up. now all you have to do is chisel new mortises for the hinges, install the hinges and rehang the door. i've done hundreds of doors this way. good luck

  7. yeah i fucked that door up when i tried that, so i just bought one thats the right size,
    but thanx NE ways
