  1. Here's my set up with rockwool with a 6 inch airstone with constant air bubbles supplied to about 1 cm of water.

All clones have been dipped in rooting gel with added to the opening of the rockwool cubes.

There is a dome to keep humidity in.

    Question:

    1) I have heard some people using heating pads under the tray to increase the humidity and temperature. Is this advisable?

    2) I forgot to get a drainer.. How often do I have to change the water in the tray.

    3) I've adjusted the pH to about 6.0. What other nutrients do I have to add?

    4) When sanitizing, should I use Hydrogen Peroxide or Rubbing Alcohol?

    Thanks fo much in advance!

Here's a pic of the set-up with the Dome....I believe the temperature to be about 24oC :

  2. Here's a clearer pic with the Dome off....any inputs would be gladly appreciated...

also, there is a 40 watt Fluoro hanging over them...

What system is this? I didnt think that with rockwool you are supposed to have them in a constant solution, from what i gather your supposed to have a consistent timer for filling and draining the system, hence ebb and flow. Im sorry I cannot provide you with answers to your questions, but I am still gathering info on hydro myself, please let me know how it goes.

    Take care.

  4. The first thing I would do if I was you is to cut out those two squares on the top of the humidity dome. You need a little air. After 5 or 6 days remove the dome all together or the cuttings will start to turn yellow. At the same time you remove the dome I would start to fertilize with a 1/4 strengh solution. You want to keep the rockwool moist but not soaking wet. You don't need the heating pad unless the temp drops below 70 F. If the floor feels cool to the touch then you definately need a heating pad. I don't recognize the plants you are cloning, but this system works well with other plants.
