I have recently discovered that 2 for 2 of my currently indoor plants are male and I have a beutiful lady outside that has been budding for about 1.5-2weeks and was wondering if I could cut a branch, and use a little root hormone and start another female from that. My concerns are for one that my girl might not react well to this, or that the cutting might not stay a female, and that I am bringing a outside plant (started inside though) back inside. Can anyone give me some advice and or pointers on this one? Thanks in advance.
ideally cloning is done right when the plant shows sex, but it can be done at the stage you're at without harm. the mother plant will shock a bit from being cut but it will recouperate very quick. i would not worry too much about it turning hermie unless it is subjected to alot of other shock. as for bringing it inside, again it might be in shock for a short period of time but it should be ok after that. imo i would bring it inside and let it get accustomed to it's new light before cloning it. and kill the males!!
I would bring the Female inside if it wasn't in the ground, and if I had room, but unfortunetly I can't. I would have loved to have the female inside whole life, but just wasn't able to. So I guess I will try to make to clones under my circumstances and hope for the best............. I'll try to get some pics and a update up in about a week so you all can see if it worked or not.
so the female is in the ground? i thought it was in a planter. you shouldn't have any problem taking clones off of her and having them live healthy and fully female lives.
