I was thinking of setting up a grow, and I was planning on using 2 rooms. 1 vegi, 1 flower. and every 2 months I would rotate. Harvest the flowered plants, move the vegied plants into flowering and cut 4 new clones and start vegiing. So my question is should I keep a mother plant to cut clones every 2 months or just cut the clones off the vegied plants b4 they are moved into the flowing room (so cutting a clone from a clone of a clone of a clone etc.). What would you recommend, the process without the mother plant would be more convenient but would the be any downsides of growing in this fashion. Grow green and happy smokin.
I suggest keeping at least one mom. The benefit is if your clones fail to root for whatever reason, you still have a mother plant to produce more offspring. since mothers stay perpetually in veg, they dont need much light and keep pretty easy. Also, cutting your plants apart before flowering will decrease your final yield.
I just take clones right before I flip to 12 hrs but I did lose a strain once when i tried Advanced Nutrients juicy roots that killed 3 trays of clones. LOL I live in Nor Cal so its not a prob to get replacements HeHe . If you live in an unfriendly state err on the side of caution. Peace to all; Puff
Hey neighbor! I live in NorCal too, Gold Country. I gotta say, I don't worry about clones or mother plants... I just drive down to the local dispensary and pay ten bucks for a nice clone or 6. Viva California! I wish everyone had this freedom.
You guys suck. I WISHED so bad I could do that, I'm on the exact opposite side of the country and the laws here are so tight, bunch of rednecks in the state house here. Back on subject tho, How are you rooting these clones, and what medium are you putting them in? I've always did seed to harvest, and have never had a clone before, but would love to figure out the best, fastest way to root them, and put them in soil. Like you, I want to do more of perpetual deal, but I'm hoping for a harvest more like every 2-3 weeks. To answer your op, Like I said, I never have did clones, but I've been reading a lot about them lately , and you should be fine using a clone as a mother, When you are taking your clones, you will be clipping more than 4 clones so as long as you veg them long enough to see which ones healthiest, you could pick that one for your mother. And know that its living. Basically, just read this http://forum.grasscity.com/advanced-growing-techniques/156593-get-harvest-every-2-weeks.html and you will see why I say. Thats basically what I'm going to memic, but just scaled down some, He said he harvest like 13-16oz every 2 weeks, I'm hoping for more around 2, but the more the better, right?
^^^^^that^^^^^ Host plants are very easy to keep. A shop light from HD is enough light for a mom. Wet
