Clonging question

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Threepac420, Dec 2, 2006.

  1. When I harvest my plants, would I be able to cut the leaves off for cloning purposes? Like the day I harvest, replace the hydroponic resivors with the cloning trays?

  2. it's not the leaves that you clone, it's the growth tips. on the day you harvest, all of these growth tips will (hopefully) have a bud on them. it would take an eternity for them to revert to veg. you could do it, but why?

  3. i see o.o, thanks! yea i hope they're covered xD

  4. ideally you'd clone before you flower(if feminized), or a week or two into flowering(when sex is determined). it can be done before harvest but like growbot said it'll take forever for them to root and reveg. the first clones i ever took were from an almost mature plant, and it took almost a month for them to start growing.

  5. yeah i found a good thing on it

"Yes, but a cutting taken while the stock plant is flowering will need to be forced to revert back to a vegetative state under 24 hour light. This causes additional stress, slowing growth and development. Rooting may take up to three times longer when the cuttings are taken during the flowering cycle. The cutting may not have enough stored nutrients or carbohydrates to survive. If you must do this then take the cutting when the mother plant is only a week or two into flowering.

    Additional comment...
The above "flowering plant" is to be taken verbatim.
However, the above should not to be confused with a sexy mom who has been showing her primordia aka pre flowers while vegging, and has been kept in a vegetative state of growth for several months or years. These old mature primordia displaying moms clone just as well as a premature seedling. "
