Clones taking long time and low success rate

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by BIgPlottDog, Dec 7, 2018.

  1. What type of medium; soil or hydro?

    Mom’s Soil and soilless mix
    Clones are rapid rooters

What brand and type of soil?

    Coco/fur mulch/perlite/castings
30/30/30/10 with a little dr earth live 7-7-7
And some moms in down to earth potting mix

    Indoors or outdoors?

    Indoors

    What strain?

Hades OG, dream queen, blueberry muffin, royal highness, GG4, SFV OG

    How old are the plants?

Moms are 2 months old, all from clones from a dispensary

What type of lights and how many watts?

    23watt cfl x2 for clones

    How far from the lights?

    2” from dome

What is your watering frequency and source of water?

Ro water spray bottle when rooters dry out I’ll spray them

What, how much and when was it fed? NPK?

Clone x gel dip clone before placing in rooter

What is the medium/runoff pH and PPM if in hydro?

    N/a

What are the temps and humidity in the room?

Room clones are in is 68-74 inside dome is 76-81 no wilt so humidity should be good. I leave the vents closed.

    What size pots?

    N/a

    Any bugs? Look real close.

    No bugs

    Any other pertinent info?

Soaked rooters for an hour then squeezed the extra water out, at 21 days I’ll have 10/50 with roots showing, 25/50 will hold the rooter when picked up by stem, 15/50 will pull out of rooter no roots. 35/50 will grow but the 25 not showing roots will take another week when potted up to start really growing. I take the dome off 2 times a day to let fresh air in. It’s random on which strains root and witch don’t. I’ve ran 3 runs of clones all the same as stated above.

I can’t think of any more info right now. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Dome off for picture.
I get about a 90% hit rate this way.
3 weeks is average time for good roots.
I run a seedling heat mat when it's cold in the garage.
Rockwool 1 inch starter cubes fully soaked no squeeze.

  3. Thanks for the info BNW. I tried rockwool cubes ones... at 3 weeks I had no roots and nasty yellowing plants. I’ve used rapid rooters a bunch. I guess I’m just looking to maybe speed it up and get a little better rate of rooted plants.
