Gelato 2.jpg Gelato 1.jpg I would like to start off by saying I am new to growing and I have a reputation for killing a cactus. So long story short I have two clones. One is a bule gelato and the other is a sour diesel. I got the cones from the same grower at the same time. They are under the same dome, treated the same and under the same conditions. The diesel is doing sorta ok. No yellowing but is a bit droopy. The gelato though has yellowing tips, droopy and one of the leaves is starting to turn yellow starting on the stem side. They were cut on July 2nd so as of today im 9 days in with these clones. I jumped online to see what I could find and everything pointed to nute burn. But I have not gave them any nutes yet. They have only been sprayed with PH water. Can anyone please help me figure out what I am doing wrong? Why is one doing ok and the other turning yellow? Could it be light burn? I have a LED light set to vege at 23" away from the dome. Thank you in advance for any info you can share.

  4. How recently were they cut off the mother plant? Non rooted clones can be tricky to get to take root especially for first time working with clones my last run was the first time i decided to try cloning took 12 cuts and one survived haha, i personally have much better luck starting from seed

  5. @Chefboyardee The clones were cut 9 days ago. I'm unsure if they have taken root yet. Any suggestions on what might be going on? I have some seeds on the way but the clones were given to me so I thought I would try my luck.

  6. Fair enough, could you take a pic of them in natural light possibly? Hard to see under the blurple light

  7. Leaves sometimes yellow out when cloning due to it using the energy in the leaves to push roots. But a natural light pic would help us assist you better.

Thank you guys for your help. Here are a few pics of it in normal light. I swear it looked worse this morning! The tips were full on yellow all the way across and now it looks as though some of it went away. All I did was raise my light from 23" to 42". Maybe my problem is going away, is that possible for leafs to green back up? Is it normal for stems to be yellow like that? I apologize for asking such rookie questions.

  9. In my experience once a leaf is yellow or show sign of deficiency. It stays that way. Only new growth let’s you know if the problem is fixed or not. Which yellowing in this case would be nitrogen. Or lack there of. Your plant is starting to use all the nutrients stored in the plant itself to live. It has no roots to eat.

Would you recommend adding nutrients this early to give it nitrogen? I have bottled nutrients general hydroponics.

  11. No! Just let it do it’s thing. Takes time to establish roots. 2 weeks +. Patience is the key in this game my friend.

  12. Ok thank you. I will keep on keeping on then. thanks again for your input.

  13. 9 days is right around when they should be popping roots.
The leaf tips may start to seem like they are burning or other signs indicative of deficiency/excess, but I believe it's more just the clone extracting nutes from where ever it can as it has no other source. No real lower leaves, and no roots.

It shouldn't be nute burn if you aren't feeding.
They are standing, not drooping, and seem otherwise alright.

I foliar spray mine with a very mild solution of BioThrive veg or a vitamin B solution that has mild NPK. Like, 5 drops of veg, or 10 drops of vitamin b into a typical 500-700 ml spray bottle and give them several fine mists a day. Seems to keep them mostly green right up until day 8-10.
