Hey all, im gonna be buying the black leaf nautilus soon and the only problem i can find with it is it seems like it could be a pain in the ass to clean, especially getting the little pieces out. any tips for how to do so? i was thinking about buying an ashcatcher with it.
definitely don't snap bowls if that's what you intend on doing, that is to say, don't pull the weed into the bong. i've heard two definitions of snap before, but yeah. inlines aren't bad, you'll just need a good bit of rubbing alcohol, enough that you can pour back into the main stem where the joint connects. i've cleaned plenty of inlines just not bong sized ones but the process can't be too much different.
I used to own a WS inline but I'm dumb and I broke it. I've recently ordered the Nautilus and I'm still waiting (don't go registered shipping trust me). Use alot of rubbing alcohol and Epsom salt then use a mini pipe snake. Epsom salt $1 Iso alchohol $1 and the as seen on tv mini pipe snake $10 at bed bath and beyond . Let the ISP and espsom sit in the chamber for about 10 min, then shake well and snake well. It'll be clean in no time. Rinse with hott water . I highly suggest a precooler as it will not get the bong dirty really at all (minor floaters here and there and buildup with heavy use but not that bad.) Here's some pics of a dirty and clean inline These pics were both taken same week I just cleaned it the day after because the precooler was gettin dirty and I noticed residue collecting on the inline perc. Think of these as a before and after comparison. I did exactly what I stated earlier, should u decide to change up cleaning methods go ahead there no one way to do most anything . Forgot to mention you can snap bowls all day with that big huge precooler. Great thing about the precooler is added perc, added smoke volume, and it keeps the piece clean! Plus it looks awesome and thick!! I mean really thick strong glass. This perc will now be used on my incoming Nautilus . However if it's too big then I'm gonna order another precooler for the nautilus , then find a way to convert my precooler into a bubbler (would need a glass U -joint , a detachable mouthpiece and extra strong clips.)
doesn't the nautilus have a removable inline perc for easy cleaning?
That'd be dope if it does
no, the mini nautillus does. im getting the layback. its fullsize with a bent neck and no ice notches. kinda wish it did have a removable perc though
Yes only the mini is removable. Idk why this is. Maybe the mini wouldnt be able to hold a decent sized precooler Like the BL shower head I have. It's massive of u look at the pics above. That is why I ordered the Nautilus, so I can compare and contrast GC's top selling inlines while also being able to use my shower head perc (it survived without a crack or chip) I've also read that BL has better quality glass than the WS
its not that hard to clean them, a bottle of 91% iso alcohol and some kosher salt cleans it at good as new. sometimes it might take 2 washes in a row to get my buddys inline bubbler perfectly clean, but its not difficult or expensive.
Check the pics , took me 15 minutes to get it that clean although I do use a perc'd precooler which really helps. Also if anyone is worried about keeping the inline clean, but don't have the cash for a precooler then I suggest getting a carbon filter bowl. They are cheap and effective and the carbon will last quite a while w/o having to change it out.
instead of an ashcatcher get a carbon filter for 15 bucks then you won't really have to worry sbout cleaning it EDIT:^ someone always beats me to it
^ lol I hate when that happens !! but you are absolutely correct. The only reason I love my ash catcher is the added perc , smoke volume, and clenliness of the bong.
I've all 3 nautilus and they're super easy to clean, I'll let the lay back get filthy sometimes before I clean it and it cleans up so easy Also bear in mind the bowl that comes with it has a wide opening, so my adivce is to invest in a screen or other form of gauze I use boiling water, isopropanol and dish washer salt and I obviously do it outside with a face mask, the boiling water kicks fumes off the alcohol like you wouldn't believe I'm not having 'scratched glass' issues and I've never poured boiling water into one and the inline just snap off due to the heat/warping Also if anyone's wondering, but it seems to have been cleared up; The full size nautilus has a non removable inline diffuser and ice notches The lay back has a non removable inline diffuser and a bent neck The mini has a removable 3 arm diffuser, a splash guard and tiny ice notches
Damn all three?! Well then sir you are the perfect person to ask. Which do you enjoy the most ? Which do you think is the best quality of three? I'm sure they all have their own strengths and weaknesses but which do you prefer?
They're all situational imo, if your sat ripping at home then it doesn't matter which you have. In order of smoothness its; full, layback, mini but in order of features it's; mini, full, layback. Out of sheer personal preference, this may surprise, but I like the layback the best. I like being able to grab the neck, bring it up to my mouth and not have to bend over to toke. The default choice is the fullsize, everyone seems to get that one. Possibly because it's the most 'traditional' looking one or it's the only one you've heard of. I'll be doing a review of the layback soon, my youtube is in my sig. I may not do the fullsize though simply on the grounds of there's a million and one videos of the fullsize on there already.
