When do you actually start the plants weeks of life ? Ive researched it and some sources say after sprout, some sources say 7 days after sprout, and others say when the plant gets their first leaf with the jagged leaf. And how long does it stay a seedling. again different answers when reearched, some say after the plant gets it first true 5 finger leaf, its 7 finger leaf, or it takes 2 weeks for the seedling stage to end. this inconsistency of information has me scratching my head on when i should start the counting and what week of nutrients i should give my plants. I consider the plant to be a seedling once it sprouts and gets its little circle leaves, due to the fact it does depend on light for photosynthesis. And then theres the transition stage, some say its still in veg and to give veg nutes, and others say its flower and to give it flowering nutes. i consider the transition to be flower because it is infact on a 12/12 light cycle and is in blooming stage But after researching i guess my logic is wrong, and now im more confused then before. Can somebody clarify to bring more insight on the subject.
Seedling stage lasts until the first true leaves (is it 5 or 7 fans?) appears. About 10-14 days if she's doing good. I don't mean the first leaves that appear after the cotyledons (ie. the round leaves you mentioned); takes longer than that.
My plants been producing leaves in this order. cotyledons, single finger jagged leaf, 3 finger leaf, 5 finger leaf, then 7 finger leaf. So i should wait to the 7 finger, to start giving it vegging nutrients?
I been starting my plants with nutes. Sometimes I wonder if I burn some seeds out doing this. But, I only use Clonex solution when starting. The EC is pretty high tbh, like more than I would run them with nutes, but in the cloner, they grow pretty good. Right now I have some algae growing and I think I need to go clean up properly. I also prune the roots now. I was scared to at first, but trimming the long roots at the start makes more pop out.
I use clonex gel and solution for my clones. Along with rapid start root enhancer. Those three are awesome and work very fast if the conditions are met.
I understand your post but as for myself I start counting veg first day sprouts out of dirt. I also count flower 1st day of 12/12
I'm with Flannigan. I have always done it that way and it's just easier to keep track of things. Breeder finish times are only guidelines. Our personal growing environments vary greatly. My plants finish whenever they reach maturity. I do not feed my plants as I grow in an organic medium. When I did run Fox Farms line I didn't feed until around week 3 of the seedlings life. When I ran DTW in Coco coir I fed around 200 ppm right from day one.
And thats what i do. But had alot of issues this run its that 3 week seedling difference thats getting me then. i give them the week 1 nutrients after a week from sprout, then on the second week after sprout i give them the week 2 nutrients. I must not be waiting long enough for the seedling stage and overfeeding them ?
I start counting veg when I transplant the seedlings. I started with 5 weeks of veg but now do 6-7. I start counting flower either 1 week after 12/12 switch, or see actual signs of flower. And for me about 11 weeks of flower seems to be the average. All together start to finish about 20 weeks from seed. Add a week to dry and a month to cure, and you're good to go.
its more of the sprout to seedling stage for me. I grow in dwc, so if im transplanting any its clones that are ready for full dose of nutrients. But im glad you brought up the total weeks. If a stain says 8 weeks flowering time, that is just the flower time or the plants entire life cycle from sprout to harvest time ?
Yep, that means just the flower time, not counting veg. I've only got 5 crops in but it's been my experience that the weeks shown by the breeder are usually 1-2 weeks shorter than mine take to reach peak flower. I go by trichomes same as everyone else, but mine seem to take longer than the breeders say. Almost always so far
awesome. thanks you for that clarification And thank you Trojangrower, Flannigan, TimJ for all yalls info. I believe i have a better standing on it now. And if i put all this info and my plants timelines together, i believe i can get my girls on the right track before its to late. Fingers crossed. Lets do the damn thang thank yall again
