My ex cheated on me after I waited two years to have sex with her (after I took her virginity she wanted to stop). On our 2 year anniversary, I gave her some jewelry and a rose. The next day she said that we needed to take a break. A month later on my birthday I text messaged her to wish her a merry xmas.

She replied: "Thank you for the jewelry. Make new boyfriend thinks you have good taste. Please don't ever call me, or come look for me again. Have a merry xmas, get over it." And I never heard from her again. That was a year ago.

When I was all drugged up I wrote this poem.

    City Screams, Liquid Dreams

How cruel is a heartless promise,

now that you don't feel for me?

As I lay trapped within this dark room,

beneath the amber lights of the city.

And I knew that the words you spoke

fell from your lips like glue.

    Liquid dreams and honest lies,

were the only things about you true.

    Sapphire red lips,

    pressed tightly behind city screams,

where the lights of fleeting memories

weighed heavy down upon our dreams.

And I found my heart stuffed in a drawer,

next to a picture of you and me.

Where the echo of past laughter

drowns out the sound of my new enemies.

So I cried in the silence of my misery,

for all of the promises which never came to be.

Where the lovers with time to waste,

can now be together like we once dreamed...

How cruel is a heartless promise,

    now that you're finally free?

    How could any of this,

have happened to you and me...

  2. I do really like this poem.

Has anyone noticed that poetry with a sad twist to it seems to be the most popular?

  3. Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
