City council approves new rules for indoor home grows

  1. As home marijuana grows increase in popularity, they are also increasing in size and scope.

In light of the safety concerns that have surfaced regarding residential marijuana grows, the Colorado Springs city council approved a set of regulations Tuesday intended to protect surrounding residents from potential hazards and even odors.

The ordinance was developed over a period of several months by CSPD, CSFD, and members of the community who grow marijuana in their homes.

The Indoor Flora Grow Operation ordinance applies to not only growers of marijuana, but any flowering plants.

Among the requirements approved by city council on Tuesday:

-Only 150 square feet of a residential structure can be used for a grow operation.

-Only LED, CFL, or fluorescent lighting is allowed, unless otherwise approved by the fire department.

-Ventilation systems are allowed, but they must be the filtered type; Odors cannot be detectable beyond the structure.

-Pitfalls or booby traps intended to harm anyone who disturbs the operation are strictly prohibited.

-Fire inspectors have the authority to inspect any structure with a grow operation for compliance.

  4. What a crock of CRAP!
This is nothing more then a fishing tool by LE.
Washington State after throwing medical under the rug did the same type of thing except it's not the fire department.
They are allowed to come at any time.
No warrant no nothing just GUILTY already under false assumptions.

Pulling the same sort of BS in NorCal! In Siskiyou county, you now need to buy a permit to grow. You can not grow your plant naturally, under the sun, nor are you allowed to grow inside your home!

No, you must grow in a sheriff-approved, sturdy, hard-paned greenhouse, surrounded by a sheriff-approved fence. The sheriff must also approve of the mandatory alarm system that must have an alarm that blares at between 90 and 110 decibels. There must be an odor control system to banish all smells. Lighting is likewise restricted. There are required set-backs from all property lines. If you do not own your property, you need a notarized permission slip from the owner.

I figure it will cost folks around $3,000 to $5,000 to get a "sheriff-approved" set-up. A LOT of medical marijuana patients are simply "priced out" of growing legally! They now face the prospect of being forced to buy their cannabis when growing is FAR cheaper, or being "criminals"!

The use and cultivation of an effective herbal medicine should NOT be a crime!

  7. WOW! These control freaks have got to go.
Didn't think anyone else out there could mess up growing as much as Washington State but you guys giving us a run for being stupid.

I think these types of actions are all about not only control, but forcing the average person to go to the dispensaries instead so the state can rip you off with taxes that are not legal.

What gives them a right to tax a plant any higher then a tomato plant at the road side farm?

Then you are forced to either buy underground or at a dispensary and in both cases it's like buying food at your local grocery store you have absolutely no clue how safe it is to consume.

If people knew the laws are worthless when it comes to your local grocery store then you'd also figure it out same thing at dispensary they can't test every bud that goes out the door.

But hey just keep putting good people behind bars while the CROOKS sit in office!
We got a country full of sheep!
