Chronic droop issues

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by Deleted member 1159259, May 1, 2023.

  1. I have chronic droop issues. Growing Jack herer and they just droop no matter what.

I have read thousands of overwatering/under watering articles

my leaves seem to droop and wilt all at the same time. They seem overwatered when my soil is dry to the bone and hydrophobic and under watered when I give them excess water…

im actually at my wits end trying to figure out how my plants can be under watered and overwatered all at the same time and be unable to fix the problem

  2. Got a grow light, fan oscillating on the plants, another fan bringing air outside of tent. Humid and temps right around average for both. Using fox farm ocean forest with less nutrients in my 6.6 ph water because of the nutes in the fox farm soil… I wait until soul is bone dry to water yet plants still are overwatered

  3. Have they ever looked perky?

  4. How are you checking the moisture level of the pots?

  5. Yup until about week 3/4 they are beautiful

  6. My finger in the soil and lifting them for weight

  7. I suggest potting one up
when plants droop as this, its a sign of No Air in the soils,
this can be an indication of over watering or root rot at worst

potting up one plant will offer you a check on the root state,
any rotten sox smells or brown roots may suggest forthcoming root rot

ensure you add 30% perlite to the plant at potup this will ensure you got enough air in the soils

    good luck

  9. Is this your first grow?
Are you using bagged potting soil ? If so have you mixed in anything with it.

  10. Been growing for a few years. Using fox farm ocean forest with nothing added to water until about week 4 which is floranova grow… doing less than they say because of the nutes in the ocean forest… I honestly think it’s the ocean forest, the crap is horrible, doesn’t drain and holds way to much water yet doesn’t distribute water evenly… idk how it got popular for weed

  11. Overwatering causes oxygen deprivation due to root death. Once a plant is damaged from overwatering they have a hard time recovering because they have to grow new roots. Sometimes watering an overwatered plant will perk it up temporarily because it's getting oxygen from the fresh water and that'll mislead you into thinking maybe it isn't being watered enough. They look worse when the soil begins to dry which is very confusing. It may be time to start some fresh seeds.

I like Vee's idea and trojangrower may be onto something. IMO there's something about the way they look that doesn't quite fit the typical overwatered look but if they began drooping before you began adding nutes then I suppose too much N probably isn't the problem. This is exactly why I don't like bagged soil that comes fertilized.

They look rather small for plants that must be at least 5 weeks old if I'm reading correctly. Also in the future it may be a good idea to post pics of your plants under normal light.

  12. is it the first time using that light?

  13. Bagged potting soil is like a sponge you want 40% perlite sand top soil pea gravel/60% potting soil.
Your getting root rot because you dont have proper drainage.
Mix up potting soil to what i said above and transplant.
Potting soil is soiless.. read the bag

If you could continually up pot plants, when mediums depleted youd never have to feed using ocean forest. As mentioned gotta add perlite as with every other mix being sold. I dont know of a bag of any medium sold with 30% perlite already mixed in.

Wk 4 and 2 days in top 30% happy frog lower 70% ocean forest.

  17. Vee,

Never do i disagree with you. But
FFOF= nutrients does FFOF have all the necessary minerals in it that mj plants requires? (no)
    Does perlite .. no.
50% of dirt/earth is silica, plus the plant needs a wide variety of minerals that is found in common top soil.
What on earth is wrong with adding 10 to 20 % top soil.[/QUOTE]

Yea I have nutes I’m adding plus a cal/mag that isn’t included in my floranova grow… the ffof does have perlite which is very misleading… to me I figured, “it has perlite, must be enough”

I’m almost certain not enough perlite (oxygen) is the main issue
