Choose my next job for me!!!!

Discussion in 'General' started by kid_vicious, Jan 21, 2010.

  1. After 6 months of being jobless, i got 2 job offers in one day! Good things come i pairs, :D. Here are the jobs, help me decide. Or if you work in either of these fields, gimme some insight.

    1) Telecommunications company: I'd be a field apps. advisor so I would go to businesses installing and training on the software/system. Pays 46K, plus an estimated 6k bonus if i meet the yearly requirements, i also get a blackberry and laptop. Bad part is i'd be driving all over LA (gas reimbursed), and work alone.

    2) Market Research compay: I'd be a research analyst so I'd study how effective advertising campaigns are. Sounds glamorous but i'd be sitting in front of a computer all day working with numbers. Pays 38K but I'm trying to negotiate a better deal. I'd rather do this job because the work is more interesting and i wouldnt be out in the field all day or driving around. Plus, 7 hour work days and hot girls at the office.

Thank you!! And sorry if its too long :smoking:

  2. driving all over town getting stoned sounds pretty good to me

  3. May I suggest a movie?

If i could drive all over LA and smoke while I install shit at businesses, i would do it. I wish you could take the girls from the second job with you though....that would be awesome huh?

  4. the first job sounds a bit like the pinapp-le express guy seth Logan's job lol.... shit would be lol driving around stoned bumping tunes :hello:

  5. Seth Rogan :)

  6. Dude what's to decide? The first one! More money and you get to go around different places and meet different people, as apposed to sitting in the same sterile office with 4 white walls, with the same asshats day in and out on a mind-numbing computer, and get payed a lot less with no mention of bonus or raises. The second job seems so horrible and boring compared to the first. DO IT! ;)

  7. Yes, please suggest a movie to me!

  8. And I'm not sure if I would smoke on the job. I used to blaze all the time at my old job, and it was always kinda sketchy cuz I worked with nurses and i'd get paranoid that they could tell.

Anyone do anything similar, like installing/training on systems? And if so, do you blaze at work?

  9. Option 1 sounds good.

Option 2 sounds like the unemployment line in 3-6 months.

  10. Option 1 is what I would choose. I love driving.

  11. Take the second. My cousin is helps install networks, phonelines and such for businesses. He says you have to deal with the rudest, stupidest people on earth. Plus from what I hear market research is diverse and it never gets old.

  12. I would choose #1 because that's kind of what I did before I got my last promotion. Now I sit in a server room and play MW2 and wait for shit to happen.

  13. Whats the title of this job and why wasnt i informed back at career day?

  14. Really? How long did it take you to get promoted?

Another thing that draws me to job 1 is that there could be a lot of room for growth. This position just opened up in the Los Angeles branch, the program has been in affect for about 6 months in other regions and its been doing really well. So i think if i can get in early ill get promoted to a manger earlier? IDK, just thinking...

DBA, shit is pretty fucking cool. I get stoned and play games a lot... that and I get 55k and full health/dental a new laptop every 6 months and countless computer parts like disk drives, optical drives, network adapters, videocards, ram... I sell most of it on ebay. lol

Two months, but it was a lot of fun. I mean sure you deal with some assholes, but you also see and hear the funniest/coolest people out there.

  16. I think option 1 would be the wisest choice.

  17. What was the title of your starting position? How established was the company? And what company was it, or what do they do? Was the work hard?

  18. i know im fuckin baked arggg!! im typoing all over the place...

  19. I started out as a network security analyst. Pretty well established, we have clients all over the world... most of them are in the area though. We do large scale server implementation... Stuff like Mail, Web and Database startup and all the good stuff that comes with that. The work isn't hard if you have the training, it's actually a lot of fun if you know what your doing.

  20. driving around in LA traffic all day is probably the last thing he wants to be doing

however, if you're on sal (salary, hehe) you will often be getting paid (in your case a shitload of money) for sitting in traffic.

can you see a window or sunlight from your computer at the other job (or can you not tell?)

if there's hot ladies, sunlight and a window that office job might be better than it seems
