chillum and a rag?

So I heard somewhere that chillums were traditionally smoked with a wet piece of cloth over the mouthpiece. Could I do this through my glass bat or spoon? I mean I know I could but would it take out the thc like a cig filter?

Ive been curious about this for awhile but cant find much info on it. Anyone on gc have experience wiht this concept?

guess im being an idiot and missing something. Being high, distracted and tired not helping im sure. I think I figured it out, I was reading something talking about the safi rag being wetted and then smoking and kinda just grouped it all together thinking they were smoking through a piece of cloth. whatever
