day 30 of 12/12 right now after 4 weeks of veg. first time at this and plants are looking good! made a few mistakes in vegging and let the plants get overwatered and heat stress but i've come a long way in a short time and so far in flowering my plants have been happy and healthy. girls are loving the CFLs, really starting to get frosty!!!! Couple of questions I have: I want to take cuttings this week. What is the best method for cutting a flowering plant? Should I cut from a bottom bud that probably won't develop as well or does it need to be cut from a special place? Topping a veggging plant makes sense to me for clones but there's no way I'm gonna cut up my top cola LOL When will my buds start to reek? I've been waiting and waiting to use my carbon filter but so far the buds have a genuinely neutral odor... They definitely smell but i would describe the smell as "fresh" as opposed to "dank" It smells less than grinding up a .5 gram nugget of good weed and i mainly notice the smell when i'm trying back leaves as opposed to smell permeating from the buds.. I'm going to try to fix this and the airiness of the buds by re positioning the lights. I'm using strictly CFLs and the past week or so I had moved my lights up. They were about 8" from the canopy and today I moved them to about 5" and added side lighting. Hopefully this will help with density and smell
that 'fresh' smell you refer to is going to quickly change into the 'dank' smell really soon.. I would just be prepared. The best way to test the smell (since you smoke) is to walk around outside in fresh air for 10 minutes, walk back into your home / grow site but hold your breath before you get near the plants, and breathe in through your nose when you get near them and that first smell you get will pick up the faintest of 'dank' smell which will signal you to start that carbon filter.
It's too late to take cuttings from this plant, in my opinion. You can do it earlier in the flowering, but these look too far along for good results. However if that's what you want to do, search for "monster cropping" and good luck! Looking okay for a CFL grow too, good job
