Cheap solution for a Flood Tray?

Discussion in 'Advanced Growing Techniques' started by DigitalDwarf, Jan 19, 2010.

  1. Does anyone have any cheap solutions to flood trays? They are like $40 a piece, which to me is crazy. Anyone use anything else instead/find a supplement to buying the real thing?

    Thanks,

  2. You can always check craigslist. Don't know how many plants you're doing, but those shallow rubbermaid tubs could work.

  3. A litter box with no top. Brand new and clean, of course

  4. a tote... (rubermaid box, made out of plastic) go to any ..mart and they should have shallow decent size totes

  5. plastic masonry pans from lowes or home depot work.

  6. forgot about those... they work great

  7. Heck yeah. I was walking through Lowes a couple days ago and saw these and thought to myself, "these would be good for a small flood tray."

  8. one time me and my brother put a flood and drain tray together in home depot, we grabbed one of those big black mixing tray and cut up some pvc and built it in the store, alot of people were like what r u guys building, we lied and said it was for a school project for a friend

  9. Might be crazy till you find out how much it cost to get the mould done up and now many you have to make.

  10. Went to lows today and saw the trays. They would be perfect! How many plants can you fit in one that is 2' by 3'?

  11. I might be a little late but after some extensive searching I found bus boxes now these are perfect for growing in a small area perfect length with and height

  12. First of all what size do you need? I like plastic kiddie pools for ghetto trays, but it may be too big for what you need.

  13. Those masonry tubs should work well with Emily's replacement pots. I would say you can put about 8-10 pots in one of those tubs.
