Hello everyone, getting ready to start a 3x3 tent grow. Is anybody familiar with the cheap LED's available on ebay? I would love to use a 400 watt HPS, but RFI that the ballasts emit has me very concerned about my grow security especially being in a fairly densely populated area. Anyways, the one I'm looking at is 105.29$ shipped and is a 100x3w LED. Here is a link. http://www.ebay.com/itm/300W-LED-Grow-Light-Full-Spectrum-IR-For-Indoor-Grow-Greenhouse-Hydroponic-Plant-/291003115391?pt=US_Hydroponics&hash=item43c123277f Seems like a couple of those would be great in a 3x3 Any feedback is greatly appreciated Thanks!
Hi. check out this thread here at GC ' top led grow light family ' The panel you linked is made by topled. Topled is a partner or something with gc and they actually have an active customer rep that hangs out in that linked thread (smokesara). Looks like people are having good results with them and are happy. I personally own 2 and a friend bought 2 as well. They are great so far in veg...I'm not done in flower yet though..but it looks good. I run a 700w mars2 in a wardrobe....and I have a 100w reflector model vegging right now, then I'll flower under that also. Check out their website to see all the differnt light they have...I think if you talk to sara she'll give you a GC discount too, I got mine direct from the site though...and ebay.Buy from that seller if you get it off ebay. she's confirmed that's one of her sellers...there was some questions about knockoffs of the mars2 on ebay from other sellers...fyi.
Thanks for the Feedback! I checked out that mars2 and think it would be great for a 3x3 grow tent. How is the heat output on it? I was reasearching some other threads and saw a guy with a 1200W mars 2 and said the heat output was ALOT like heating up a bedroom it was in. Also are the fans very noisy? Thanks again
on my mars2 700w there's 2 fans on the top and they make a little noise not too bad though. Most noise is contained in my cabinet when the doors are shut but you can still hear it in the room. I also feel my light could cover a slightly larger area then what I have it in. I think they draw like 370w...so that's basically 370w of heat. It gets pretty warm. You will probably need to exhaust the heat outside unless the ambient temps are pretty low, or the tent is in a huge room. One thing you can do for heat is to mount the fan with an intake vent attached directly to the top....I did this with my smaller panel and it's working great....instead of the fans just cycling the air around in the growspace, it's bringing in fresh air and cooling the panel better too.
Still need help? Mars2 are meant to be good, I picked up a similar LED light to the one on your ebay link 2nd hand cheap. I've been really surprised how well it performed and am currently on my 3rd grow with it. Only thing I've done with my LED light is swapped out the x3 PC fans inside as they were noise as hell. Have completely slient fans inside the light now and temps are the same. Always ask the seller your buyer from the actually draw your getting as they some advertise LED's as 300w, but the actually draw you get is something like 165w.
I bought some cree diodes in 10x 90W LED UFOs but haven't flowered anything with them yet, quite happy with them so far but like gingerb did, I replaced all 3 fans with adjustable ones and they are pretty much silent. I have 7 more lights to do that to now I got mine off alibaba. Most important things with LEDs are the diodes, you'll want at least 1W but the 3/5W will have much better Penetration. Also, different chips such as cree or bridgelux produce different results so make sure you do some homework! Spectrum is also very important, 6 band should do, most lights have the same spectrums nowadays. Next would be to find out actual draw, most only consume about 60% as advertised Sent from my Spaceship using the GrassCity App.
Thanks. So the Stock Fans are pretty loud? Was it hard to replace them and what replacement did you use? I checked out the Mars 2 700w and I think it'd be great for a 3x3. Heat.... I'd use it in a 3x3x6 tent that's inside a 11x12x8 spare bed room, do you think its gonna get that spare bedroom hot? Venting outside is not an option though. Sorry for so many question and thanks in advance.
Fans more noisey then actually loud, you can replace with various different 8" 12v slient PC fans. Pretty easy replacement job aslong as you know how to rewire things. I'm in a small 2x2x6 tent, but have a crappy 4" extractor fan with filter also in spare bedroom am venting out via an air vent. But room does get warmish, but also depends on how hot or cold you room gets. Coming into winter now and my room is the coldest in the house, so always make sure i have lights on through the night. I've sent my lights to turn off for 6 hours from 12noon to 6pm, so called warmest part of day. Your be find venting into room, but it will get slightly warm. Make sure you have a good clip fan inside your tent also to keep temps down inside the time. Have you got an extractor fan/filter yet? (you will not need to use it till roughly the 3 or 4 week grow)
Did you put into cree diodes into the 90W UFOs or did they already come with cree diodes in them? I'm very happy my slient fans in put into my light, fairly easy job too.
Do you think this fan would be a good replacment? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835553002 Thanks
Looks fine but you can get alot cheap types, but make sure you get the right size most LED lights have 80cm fans in (but I could be wrong on that). I got x3 of these fans: http://www.quietpc.com/gel-silent8 for half the price, are you stateside or in europe?
They came already assembled however I think my next project will be making some myself, probably with 3W chips if its more economical for 5 lights. We will see, I have some time away from work right now so I'd like to get the ball Rollin. 😂 Replacing the fans were super easy, take the case apart, disconnect their wiring harness, I then took the fans out and had to cut their harness and splice it onto the new fans, just make sure they have the same amps if you take on a challenge like that. The one I bought has 3 speeds so its pretty nice being able to turn it down all the way and if they heat up turn up da switch. Pic is of one before new fans installed Sent from my Spaceship using the GrassCity App.
Yep my fans were easy, cut connectors off old fans and rewired to the new fans. Sloted mounts and nuts tighten up, makes such a difference can't even tell if my light are on in my tent now. I take it you got a deal on the amount of UFO lights you got?
I bought 10 for around $900 plus shipping which was another $250. To me it seemed like an alright deal for cree diodes. I bought these last year and they have been sitting in my storage room until I manned up and built my cabs Sent from my Spaceship using the GrassCity App.
