So I started my flowers on 12/12 just a few days ago. I had it from 2-2 but realized I would much rather have it 12-12... I was wondering, If I just turn the lights off an hour early each day till 12 but still make sure it gets 12 hours of dark it should be fine yea? Or would it be better to just cut the lights at 12 tonight and not slowly cut lights 1 hour early
Sorry I mean to clarify more. It is on a 12/12 light schedule currentlly from 2am to 2pm but I wanted to change it from 12am to 12pm. ... So as long as I keep 12 hours of dark in there cutting back amount of light by 2 hours for one day shouldn't hurt it should it?
Just so I am clear on this, because I have the same question as the OP. If i had my lights on from 7 am to 7 pm now and wanted to change them to being on from 11am to 11 pm, I can do it? If so, do I elongate the dark phase from 7 pm to 11 am all at once? I would assume the dark phase is the one you would want to elongate and not the other way around. Thanks in advance for your response.
i wondered about this because i started to late then daylight savings time kicked in and i have to water after midnight. i figure its not worth it a few weeks into flower now. at least i'm a night owl
it does not matter which way you turn the time but a longer day would be better than a longer nite just turn the time man dont worry about but just do it the once
^Nope. When in flower you should adjust your light schedule by lengthening the dark cycle and/or shortening the light cycle and it will not harm the plant. Never extend the light period during flower because you risk tricking the plant into reverting back to veg cycle (though doubtful that would happen from a one-time switch). In veg it is the opposite, adjust by lengthening the light or shortening the dark. The key in all cases is to keep the plant thinking it is in the stage that it currently is in. The plant is induced to flower by an extended dark period, that's why you don't want to shorten the dark cycle in flower. And in veg you want to keep the plant from being induced to flower, that's why you don't want to extend the dark cycle in veg.
another thing you can do is let them sit in the dark for longer than 12 hours too. if you just want to change your light schedule by 2 hours, then let them set in the dark for 22 hours and turn the lights back on a regular 12/12 plan. toasty has it right. you dont want to play with the light on time too much.
