CFM help!

  1. Hello. I just got a new inline fan but the cfm rating is 195. I just got a 2x2x4 feet grow tent. I will be using a carbon filter however the CFM rating is still way too high for my tent. I will be getting all the ducting tomorrow so I need help please! What could I do with my ducting or the way I set it up, so I can reduce the CFM of the inline fan? Thanks!

  2. You can by a speed controller for the fan.
I have a 745 cm on line 8 inch fans in both my 4x8 tents

  3. Not sure why you think your inline fan is to much or to big ?

  4. Im trying to reduce the cfm with ducting bends or longer ducts without using a speed controller.

And you dont think 195 cfm is too much for my tent?

  5. Length x width x height = cubic feet

Cubic feet x the amount of times you want the air turned over per minute.
I like to turn mine over roughly 3 (to 5) times a minute so I take the cubic feet x 3. Thats the minimum I would run. However I do like the benefit of a speed controller so I double that figure and dial it down to about half. A larger fan ran at half speed is generally quieter than a smaller fan ran at full blast. Plus the added cfm helps out if you ever encounter heat or humidity issues.

Long duct runs and bends in the ducting may also require a higher cfm.

  6. Normally there is no such a thing as to much ventilation.
There are a few things that can be done to control noise.
