Cfls?

  1. I'm going to grow with some CFLs when I start my garden. A question to all you CFL growers, how did your plants turn out? Could someone point me in the direction of some CFL Grow Threads? How many CFL's/Plant?

I'm doing so b/c it'll be a personal garden with roughly 3 plants.

I know I have to use the CFLs in the 2700K and 6000K range. Thanks for the help blades.

  3. You've got the color temps right. Check out that other thread for sure but I have two plants going under a total of four CFLs and they seem to be doing great. I could probably wedge a few more in there but keeping them close helps a lot. In your setup, 6-8 bulbs will do the job. Or, you can try one or two larger CFLs. The trick is to get as much light as possible on them plants! More lumens = more growth.

  4. Link in my sig to my first grow using CFLs. Harvesting today!

    I had 6 40w CFLs for a single plant.

Minimum is roughly 100w for one plant. 50 more watts for each extra plant. So in your case 200w. I would end up doubling that amount during flowering.

CFLs are well and good until you realize, "Why didn't I just save up and go HID?"

  5. ^ lol, my first cfl build is dispersed through my house now for lighting. The only cfls I use are 14w for cloning.

Like BYO said though, 8 bulbs for veg, 16 bulbs for flowering is what I'd use for 3 plants. That get's pricey, and bulbs have to be replaced at least once a year depending on how much they're used. By the time you replace all of them ONCE you'll have spent enough for a 250w HID that will produce the same as 400w of cfl.

  7. None of the 5 dollar stores in my area carry cfls, Dollar tree website doesn't have them, nor can I find 23w cfls online that low. 2 for a dollar? You're a lucky guy. :bongin:
