  1. Id like to get some bulbs for vegging. from what I read we want actual watts used not incandescent equivalent.

will these bulbs work, or are the watts too low?

  2. Those are 14 watt lights. In my oppinion, any lights under 26 watts aren't efficient enough to use for growing.

But, theoretically if you had enough of them, they would be alright. However, you're not going to get near the amount of pentration more efficient lights would give you which means a couple big buds and the rest small "popcorn" buds.

  3. can you please explain how you can up with the 14watt? im having a little trouble understanding!

what wattage should I get for max size w/cfls and how many per clone? I only need the bulbs while clones are in dome/ dixie cups.

  4. never mind about 14watt, saw it.. but what do you rec for clone dome/dixie cups per clone?

  5. If you look at that picture, it says 60 watt equivelant. Underneath that it says 14w=60w.

What that means is that bulb puts out as much light as a 60 watt incandescent (regular) bulb but only uses 14 watts. When using watts as a guide for growing, always use the actual watts.

What do you mean by "I only need the bulbs while clones are in dome/ dixie cups"? You only plan on vegging indoors and moving them outside to flower?

If that's the case, you shouldn't worry because seedlings don't need as much light. As they start to get older, you would want to put more lumens on them.

To get them through the veg stage, I would say 100 watts for your first plant and 50 for the rest is the minimum you can get by with.

I have t5 bulbs that currently has a gal vegging so I can use that once I put clones in 3gal buckets. however I need the cfl's now because any other lights will make it too hot where they are at. So I wanted to put them under cfl bulbs while in clone dome and then in dixie cups.

    make sense?

  7. If you are only using them on clones then they are fine. If you plan on going onto the veg state with cfls then you will need to up the wattage of the bulbs. Good luck with your grow:D

  8. I suggest getting CFLs that are 100w equivalents, which will run 23-26w actual (depending on manufacturer). Those 14 watters have such low light intensity that they won't do much good beyond an inch distance. Even the 23-26 watters won't do much good beyond two inches, so you want as many as you can as close as possible to the plants.

  9. I have a 90 watt ufo for vegging. gonna try it inplace of a 250 mh. you can get those off ebay for 60 bucks. if you want to stay florecent, use the 6500k grow bulbs. I use 2 x 20w x 24" T5 grow bulbs for rooting with great sucess. Use as much light as you can afford watts wise , but stay with the 6500k bulbs .

  10. ive grown a nice plant with 2 -14w bulbs. just keep the plant as close to the bulb as u can

i would use the big 42w and some 26w bulbs.

  11. My call are the 23 and 26 watters. Use 2 on top of the plant and a couple for side lighting 12" from the lights on top.
