  1. whats the best wattage for veging?

  2. depends on how many plants...

At least throw a little info in there.

  3. a max of 4

  4. you prolly want atleast 100 watts for one plant..which is alot of cfls the max watt ive seen is 45 i have 2 45s and 2 27 watts for my one plant i might grow another my grow space is very small there is guy growing inside of a sub encloser he is using 2 45 watts and has 2 very nice plants growing in it maybe more check that out

  5. depending on the size, if you will be using reflectors, how many plants all are factors.

with 4 plant i would say depending on how much you want to spend you can get a CFL grow light all the way to 125 watts but they cost about 60 bucks a peice. either way you are going to need at least 2 125 or 3 105W, 4 60W, and so on. for 4 plants you will want about 200-250 watts.

now were this gets tricky is you could pay $80 bucks and get a 400 Watt Metal halide setup for about the same price it will cost you in CFL'S but your yeild on the MH is going to be much larger. down side to this is your electric bill will be more.

so it all comes down to what you want. low yeild(120g total yeild probably for the 4) low electric bill, 50-80 bucks spent.

    -or-
do you want much higher yeild (300-350g with proper care for the 4), marginally higher electric bill, and roughly 80-110 bucks spent.

    hope this helps

  6. i was looking at a mh/hps setup too. would 250 watts be enough for 4 plants or would i need a 400 watt? also can i just plastic buckets as pots? (brand new of course)

  7. okay another question. i notived that sativas usually grow fairly tall. if i veged it to roughly 1.5-2 feet. would that affect the smoke quatilty? ive generally wondered if forcing a plant to bud affects anything more then yield.

  8. Plants normally double in size during flowering. If size is a issue, look into LST and fimming. That helps keep size down and increases the number of bud sites. Essentially, you can fit a plant that will produce more bud in a smaller area.

  9. When a cfl says it only uses 25 watts but is the same as a 100 watt bulb, which number do you go by?

  10. You have to go by the 25 watts, which definately sucks because around here for 42 watt bulbs its like $15...

  11. go with the 400 MH it would be the same price as a 250w but it gives you the room to grow more if you want in the future. a 250 would work for 4 but a 400 would be much better.

if anyone wants some good cheap CFL walgreens is selling them both online and in the stores 2 for $10 25watt daylights. 6000k and ecolight 2750k cant beat the price

  12. I picked up (2) 85watt cfl's 6500k, and a 200 watt cfl for less then $140.00.

1000bulbs.com they also have other's ... worth checking out...

  13. Whats the highest output you can get from a spiral CFL?

Also I searched and didnt see many opinions on spiral CFLs. I was going to clone some plants tonight and try a first grow in a closet.

The highest wattage they had for spiral cfl's were 26watts I believe, at least that I could find. I grabbed 2 and figure it would be enough just for the clones to root.

Do they have high wattage spiral CFLs? I'd like to not have the heat from the other lighting types.

  14. could have had a 600 watt hps for 140

    or

a 400 watt metal halide and 400 watt hps system for 160.

    140in CFL's is a complete waste

  15. if you are dead set on CFL spirals then there are some ok ones that will produce abot 9-10,000 lumens each. hydrofarm has one that is 125Watt grow light

and www.grainger.com has one that is 26 bucks and produces 9,000 lumens the catch is this one is a mogul base but you can pick a socket up for around 30 bucks

here is a link to that one. need anything else let me know
