Well, I keep finding homemade CFL hood's for next to nothing on the web every were, but I came up with something about 2 years ago and wanted to share it with the GC crew.

    What you need....Tool's...you get it....

    drill

wooden fruit crate, get mine for free from the supermarket, just ask them :D
there even vented already. this one has wooden end's with heavy duty cardboard sidewalls and back.

CFL socket and cord, any size, i get them for 20-25$ online, they fit big 105w-200w cfl's, mine is a 125watt ( huge bulb)

mylar about 17 buck's a roll, or whatever you prefer.

    that's about it
    here we go.:hello:

    Step 1:
take your mylar and line the inside of your crate, I used an old pepple reflector insert that I had left over, but it came white wich nothing is really needed on this one. so i over killed it with my left over's.

    Step 2:
I took the crate drilled my hole at one end, and installed my socket/cord. You can fit up to 8 smaller cfl's in one of these, 4 on each wooden side

    done.... hang that joker

you can use screw in hook's and cheap chain or mount it.
    mine's mounted check it out.

  2. i like that idea i think i may try it where do you get 100w cfl the largest ones i can find are 27x (100 eq) day light or ??w = (150 eq) soft white

  3. i just bought one from amazon.com , it's a full spectrum 125w cfl made by hydrofarm
1000bulbs.com has a good selection but hydrofarm website is great buy there socket and cord set's for the 11$ and change...
you will need them for the big cfl...my new one will be here next week i'll post a pick...hydrofarm also sells 125w cfl 3000k(warm)
200w full spectrum and warm cfl's...there good shit...

  4. ive read a couple of threads about the full spec bulbs
ive been lead to believe the "day light" spec is for veg
and the "soft" or "warm" are for flower

after adding up the cost factor im seriously thinking about buying the sun beam 150 mh/hps for around $100 i know its not much i only intend on buding 2 at a time
also trying to keep the electric bill low

  5. ya that's what i use my cab for and this light, vegging..
just like a mh or hps there the same thing one for veg (MH) or bloom (HPS)

  6. there is a 125w cfl that is true full spectrum, the one i just lost after year's of use...it is half 3000k and half 6500k , you can actually see a redish side and a bluish side when you turn them on and they work really great..
