Hi GC. New member and first time grower here. I have a diploma in horticulture and finally decided to start my own indoor garden! This is my first journal and I came here to learn and share with you guys so help me out!

    Here's the info:

Super basic closet setup. Planted germinated seeds into 4" pots on March 11th. Emerged on the 13th. Transplanted into 10" pots on March. 29th.

    321watts of CFLs
    Mostly 2700k CFL with (2) 40w 6500k
    ~21,000 total lumens

    (2) Dinafem Critical Plus Feminized seed
    (1) Unknown bagseed

Soil is Fafard Bio-Sol (comparable to FFOF) with added Perlite. You may not be able to see much perlite as I gave a light top dressing of only the soil.

No nutes yet - all organic. Might keep it that way. What's the best organic flowering fertilizer?

Temp fluctuates between 75F-80F. Humidity stays around 30%.

I just pinched the apex's on all three. How's it going so far?

  2. thanks for sharing.. ill be keeping track as mine are the same age lol yours are bigger though there looking good. subbed

  3. Can anyone give me some feedback on how I'm doing?

  4. looking good. not sure of your total watts is accurate. those lights all combined don't look to be all that but I could b wrong! plants look amazing. I too am a cfl grower. I will be growing the critical + soon...

  5. Thanks for the reply! The bulbs I have in there are as follows:

    (2) 40w - 2700k = 80w
    (3) 42w - 6500k = 126w
    (4) 23w - 2700k = 92w
    (1) 23w - 6500k = 23w

    = 321w

Unless I'm missing something? They are sharing power, so the total wattage could be lowered due to that?

  6. Not sure if there would be any useful info in my thread but it seems as though we're on somewhat of parallel lines; I'm just using more crayons in my coloring book. Take a look and compare notes. I'm proving that despite the smack talk against CFLs they are capable enough.

  7. Gonna go through it right now, thanks jerky!

  8. I want to see if I should start LST on these guys but I have no clue how to do it in my situation. Any ideas would be a great help!

  9. My method is folio clips on the rim of the planters with fuzzy pipe cleaners to tie them down; easy to adjust to any angle or direction.

  10. Great idea. I'd imagine you just create a small hook at the end of the pipe cleaner. Is now a good time to start that, and does it significantly increase yield or what?

Lowering the two growing tips a week or so after the first trim helps the lower branches become stronger; I'm a big fan of monkey bites as well (supercropping). If I were you I'd top them first them proceed with LST once branches develop. Look in on my side by side grow in http://forum.grasscity.com/lighting/1030468-getting-most-out-poor-lighting.html (my other thread), they are only about week 6 and beginning to spread out some.

  12. go read my last dude.. I lst' ed the Shi outta my plant. very easy method too. tape and string.

  13. Thanks for the reply. Still decided whether I will LST or not. I don't have a whole lot of horizontal room for 3 plants. However the middle plant (bagseed) may be still turn out to be male so who knows.

Hey speaking of the middle one, its first set of true leaves are starting to yellow a bit. Not marginally or inter veinal like a deficiency, but the entire leaf almost as if it's losing its chloroplasts. I think this may be due to it being planted somewhat low in the pot (the soil level is about 1" from the top) and those leaves are simply not photosynthesizing enough. Is this even an issue? I'll post a pic as soon as I can.

  14. Holy sh*t this took me a long time to figure out how to resize and embed pics properly via imgur. Feels good tho. Forgive me for I am such a newb with pics, but I wanted it to look suitable for whoever's viewing!

The first set of true leaves on this unknown bs are starting to look chlorotic:

Critical Plus #1 - The freshest set of new leaves are feeling a little crispy..?

Critical Plus #2 - She is doing quite well. Took the best to the transplanting and the topping. Strongest so far.

The green pots are 10" pots, looking for some 5gal to transplant into once they've established in these.

    20 days in. Thoughts? :D

  15. You are doing incredibly well; learn to turn a blind eye to leaves dying down low, it's part of the plan. I misted mine like you seem to be doing throughout my first grow, but realized it was setting up hot spots on the leaves so I have just watered the soil ever since. Try supercropping when there is enough room to get your fingers in there in a few days, then proceed with your LST.

  16. I don't mist very often, but when I do, I mist dos equis. No but really, when I do mist I open the door and give a good breeze in there. I am aware and precautious of foliar heat spots :)

Not too keen on what supercropping really is. A quick google searched showed some graphic images of a guy pinching the xylem and phloem out of his main stem just below the apex and it flopped over :( why would anybody do that to a plant is beyond me. I don't care if it might increase the yield, stressing a plant at ANY time to that extreme brings down its defences and greater's the chance of declining health. Now I'm no expert on cannabis, but everywhere else in the horticulture industry this technique would be a solid no-no. Many of the successful grow journals I have read have never mentioned such a method. Sorry but I am a skeptic at heart :)

Not for me, but the input is very much appreciated and thank you for the kind words!

  17. Hello GC! Thought I'd give an update on how my first grow is going. Some peculiar things have happened!

I suppose it's only been 5 days since my last update, but a lot has happened! They've really taken to their new soil and pots. The top growth seemed to slow down to a halt at my last update, due to the transplanting and the topping. But now they have established and are starting to take off again!

Here is the first Critical Plus. When I topped this girl, I took one of the nodes with it :( I have big clumsy hands. Damn. So it still has a central leader for the apex but oh well. The topping still stimulated lateral growth!

25 days veg thus far. How long should I go..?

This is the unknown bagseed. She's doing well. Some chlorotic lower leaves but that's normal. You can really tell she has different growth habits than the critical plus'

Another of the bagseed. She took so well to the topping, and healed up nicely!

Last but certainly not least, Critical Plus #2. This girl is going nuts, and I'm not sure whats going on. Something happened when I topped her, I think I took a lateral node or something too. She's healthy though so that's all that matters!

A close up of the stem arrangement after topping of Crit Plus #2. What do you guys think happened here? The inter-nodal length is not an issue, and she is stalky and really strong.

Thank you to everybody who reads, comments, and gives advice. This is my first grow and I need all of the help I can get!

    Please subscribe! :D

  18. looks beautiful! Cant wait to see all those nodes begin to fill up with fat fragrant flowers!

  19. Again you don't seem to be missing anything; excellent effort so far.

  20. Thanks! I just started LST last night on both crit plus plants. Not sure how to do it but I just pulled the entire plant on about a 45 degree. Now do I wait until it springs back and then bend it another direction? There isn't much space between the nodes :)
