CFL electricity cost??

  1. Can anybody tell me about how much money Dual Spectrum II High Output Fluorescent Light Kit will put on my electric bill

  2. Literally none it is only using 85 w/hr for the light... maybe $5-6 a month if you are using it 12 hours a day.

People that use grows will use 600s or 1000 watt lights during their processes.

  3. Thanks for the info bro.so how much could I grow with just that duel spectrum bulb

  4. For a first time I would probably say 1.5-1.75 ounces then over time if you get good 2.25-2.5 ounces.

How many plants do you plan on raising?

What kind of method are you going to use.

  5. I want too grow a couple pounds honestly, but I have no idea where to start.i have no ventalation in my closet so I wanted to go LED or CFL.what method would u suggest?

  6. Lst scrog topping all useful techniques to increase yield. Check out the growing technique section of forums. Your probably going to need some sort of vent because once ur at 100w of cfl or led it can get pretty warm (not as much as a hid) but probably hot enough to change temp in your closet since no new air will be comming in, at the very least get a small fan to circulate the air it will also help streghten the stem of ur plant.

  7. Thanks for the info bro.i had no idea about the fan making the stems stronger

  8. It sounds like this is your first grow so the prospects of you growing pounds of weed your first time is not realistic unless you grow a ton of plants. And a bunch of plants means a bunch of lights so that one dual spectrum bulb isn't going to cut it.

I'm assuming this is what you're looking at.

Stealth Hydroponics, Inc - $4.99 Shipping! - Hydroponics Systems and Supplies, plant lighting, Aeroponics, grow room, hydroponics shops, grow tent, hydroponics kit, grow kits, buddinghouse > Dual Spectrum II High Output Fluorescent Light Kit

I bought their regular high output dual spectrum kit when I first started growing and didn't know any better. You can literally go to home depot or walmart and get the same stuff for half the price. I'm guessing their high output II kit uses 68 W bulbs because their regular high output kit I got came with 42 W bulbs.

Just go to the store and buy the reflectors and bulbs. I know the Walmart I go to has up to 68 W 2700 K bulbs but only 26 W 6500 K bulbs. Several 26 W bulbs will be fine for vegging because the plants are smaller and the light doesn't have to penetrate as far down. Then during flower you can switch to the higher wattage 2700 K bulbs.

  9. Lol.u got me! And where can I find the four way bulb sockets for the cfl's? And are there and Led's that you are sure work or a site I could buy them? Thanks for the help

  10. dont shoot for a certain amount, just grow the plants and see what you get, i grew with cfls before and it got the closet pretty hot so i had two fans going

What wattage if you don't mind me asking?

  12. I don't think they make 4 way splitters. I know they make 2 way splitters. They should also have those at home depot. I had to get mine online because Walmart didn't have them. I suppose you could get three 2-way splitters to act as a 4-way. I like to use the 2 way splitters in sockets without the reflector and use them as side lighting. It seems to work pretty well. You can see what I mean in my grow journal in my sig.

I don't know much about LED lighting because it's way out of my price range. Searching around in the lighting forum might be a good way to go about finding out.

  13. I read a lot about leds basically u get what you pay for if your dishing out 60 buks for ebay leds dont expect a godsend, paying 300-400 for 90w good leds you might as well have bought a HIDs. If you choose to get leds make sure each led bulb is 1w.

Thanks sis, but I cant get a HID because Its a sealed room.and im currently looking at hydro grow lights, they claim to be the best...and most expensive lol

  15. You can check out my CFL rig in my sig. I use 252 watts of CFLs at 12 hours a day, so that's 3kw. I pay around 15 cents a kw, so I pay about 45 cents a day to run my lights.

LED's are super expensive. CFL's are the way to go for micro grows.

  16. You will spend next to nothing to light CFL grows up. My electric bill is only a little bit higher than normal and I use 600+ watts of HID light, yet my computer draws as much electricity as my entire flowering chamber. I'll bet if you go around your house and replace any old incandescent light bulbs with CFL bulbs and start your grow, you'd probably save a few bucks each much.

  17. You have a lot to learn man from the content of your posts.
