I pheno hunt seed strains in batches of 48, I’ve been doing this for about 7-8 years now. I’ve only came across 2 different phenos that refuse to grow roots, why is this, anyone know? I have 48 phenos labeled 1-48 I take 3 clones from each, every single pheno at 8-9 days has massive healthy roots protruding everywhere except all three of #4 haven’t pushed a single root not one amongst the 3. At day 14 I pulled the plug on all 3 of number 4 and when I tore the plugs open stems have not one single root or nodule suggesting a root. There is no stem rot or anything. This is only the second time I’ve seen this, Can certain phenos not produce roots genetically??
Man, anything is possible those are some big numbers you're running through . Are you using cloning gel? Maybe they will eventually, in my experience if you can keep it alive for long enough eventually they will root. Always the exceptions though. You have 148 clones, wow . How long do you end up having to keep them for?
Sometimes a cultivar can take longer to root, i've heard of 30 days on some very hard to root genetics. Just let them sit and wait.
i had the original Exodus Cheese clone which was tricky to clone had to have patience when you cloned took ages to root ,,,mac,,
I keep them in 3 inch squares squeezed into 10/20 trays under low wattage led blue spectrum lights, I let them go slow so they aren’t too big while I work through flower. I label 1-48 on the pheno seeds depending on their structure and health 1 best - 48 least. I only keep 1 cut for my mother and discard the lesser two. and I probably keep 1 out of 96
Sorry didn’t answer the original question. I use regular clonex and I sprinkle rooting powder on the clonex. Over the past few years I’ve went through over a thousand phenos and I get explosive root growth on everyone, except this rare darkness #4 pheno all three clones didn’t make a single root. I’ve had this happen with 1 other particular pheno exotic genetics runtzxredpop all other had explosive growth and all three pheno #28’s had zero roots
Sure seems like they would. thats strange for sure. Off topic I had a GTH #1 that I thought was pretty special but she was a big stretchy girl probably not the ideal indoor plant. I don't have any room to really have mothers or clones so .... yeah Sounds like you're having alot of fun over there
If it won't root and your pheno hunting maybe through it in the trash as its exhibiting undesirable traits.
