  1. Does it crack/break under heat?

Im going to try make a fire pit from a cast drainage pipe.
Its 3ft wide and around 1"thick..

  2. Nah, it doesn't crack from heat. People like to use cast iron pots and pans for cooking still because they hold heat so well. I've been to plenty of campgrounds that use it just as you are describing. Sounds great!

  3. Cheers man

Me and my mates thought it be a good idea, its a right heavy bastard takes 2 lift this piece of pipe lol

I haven't actually thought the best way to convert it,but its gonna be my wee project lol

Ill take a pic tomorrow and any ideas be appreciated :)

  4. How they've done it at campgrounds I've been to is to bury it a bit and put sand or dirt in the bottom. So say it's 2 feet long, they'd have about 6 inches buried with 18 inches out and that 6 inches inside would be all sand or dirt. You should rig some kind of grill to put across it sometimes to cook on.
