Striking lung cancer response to self-administration of cannabidiol: A case report and literature review
Striking lung cancer response to self-administration of cannabidiol: A case report and literature review

"In spite of new drugs, lung cancer is associated with a very poor prognosis. While targeted therapies are improving outcomes, it is not uncommon for many patients to have only a partial response, and relapse during follow-up. Thus, new drugs or re-evaluation of existing therapies used to treat other non-malignant diseases (drug repurposing) are still needed. While this research both in vitro and in vivo is being carried out, it is important to be attentive to patients where the disease responds to treatments not considered standard in clinical practice. We report here a patient with adenocarcinoma of the lung who, after declining chemotherapy and radiotherapy, presented with tumour response following self-administration of cannabidiol, a non-psychoactive compound present in Cannabis sativa. Prior work has shown that cannabidiol may have anti-neoplastic properties and enhance the immune response to cancer. The data presented here indicate that cannabidiol might have led to a striking response in a patient with lung cancer."

So this gentleman in his 80s had lung cancer. He decided against chemo and radiation. He started taking CBD oil and guess what happened!

"The patient had a further CT scan in November 2017 which revealed near total resolution of the left lower lobe mass with only a small area of residual spiculated soft tissue remaining (1.3 × 0.6 cm) and a significant reduction in size and number of mediastinal lymph nodes (Figure 2(a) and ((b)).b)). The patient underwent another CT scan in January 2018 which showed stable appearances of the small residual opacity in the left lower lobe and mediastinal lymph nodes......... On further questioning, the patient stated that he had started taking CBD (“MyCBD”) oil 2% (200 mg CBD in 10 mL) from the beginning of September 2017.........There were no other changes in the patient’s diet, medication or lifestyle from September 2017."

Translation- the tumor shrank and went away leaving only a small bit of what might be scar tissue after he began taking a CBD oil!

    Very interesting!

  3. AWESOME ! Maybe I could convince my wife to use that, since she won't have anything to do with the RSO ,because of the THC in it....I had no idea that CBD was effective against cancer cells...That's GOOD NEWS !

  4. CBD does some "interesting" things to tumors.

CBD slows/ prevents the growth and formation of feeder blood vessels (angiogenesis) that help tumors grow so dang fast! For this reason on its own, she should be taking CBD! Without all the extra food, the tumor's growth slows!

Cannabidiol inhibits angiogenesis by multiple mechanisms. (full – 2012) Cannabidiol inhibits angiogenesis by multiple mechanisms

CBD also "defuses" a nasty cancer gene, the Id-1 gene, that makes some cancers (triple negative breast cancer, some colon cancers, etc) very aggressive.

Pot compound seen as tool against cancer (news – 2012) Pot compound seen as tool against cancer

“When McAllister and Desprez exposed the (“triple negative” breast cancer) cells to cannabidiol in a petri dish, the cells not only stopped acting "crazy" but they also started to revert to a normal state… The researchers stressed cannabidiol works only on cancer cells that have these high levels of ID-1 and these do not include all cancerous tumors but, rather, aggressive, metastatic cells. But they've found such high levels in leukemia, colorectal, pancreatic, lung, ovarian, brain and other cancers.”

Here's the study that article is based on-

Cannabidiol as a novel inhibitor of Id-1 gene expression in aggressive breast cancer cells. (full - 2007) Cannabidiol as a novel inhibitor of Id-1 gene expression in aggressive breast cancer cells

“CBD represents the first nontoxic exogenous agent that can significantly decrease Id-1 expression in metastatic breast cancer cells leading to the down-regulation of tumor aggressiveness.”

So the authors are describing CBD as a NONTOXIC chemotherapy agent!

And do you know about my List, Budmiser? It has a LOT of links that you may find useful. The first section is all news articles which she might find a bit less intimidating than actual medical studies.

  5. Thanks,Granny, I appreciate that...I have managed to convince her to take the CBD oil a few times, when she was really hurting, and she could not deny that it eased the pain in about 30 minutes....But it takes two full droppers full to make it work for pain, So I wonder how much that guy was taking per day to stop his cancer ....Any Ideas? I expect it takes quite a bit more to do that...
