I'm not sure if this has been done yet or not.....but if it hasnt I think its long over-due. Lets use this thread to post, discuss, and elaborate on the thoughts, ideas, and concepts of one of the greatest human minds our time has ever seen. I'll begin by posting one of my favorite videos... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQq1dMdYxHs&mode=related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2hSEDlSQYGg&mode=related&search= http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cy1--3B_c4Q&mode=related&search=
heres an interview I really like... If you want to skip past everything and go straight to the interview it begins at 2:20... However, the most important statement of this interview (in my opinion) is his last one that comes around 6:45. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d1vrET6bnOY&mode=related&search=
Im speachless. Those video's were....wow... the day carl sagan died http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_JX_-jaJOrU&mode=related&search=
This first quote is one of my all-time favorites.... "A religion old or new, that stressed the magnificence of the universe as revealed by modern science, might be able to draw forth reserves of reverence and awe hardly tapped by the conventional faiths. Sooner or later, such a religion will emerge." -Carl Sagan "It is far better to grasp the Universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, however satisfying and reassuring." --Carl Sagan "The Universe forces those who live in it to understand it. Those creatures who find everyday experience a muddled jumble of events with no predictability, no regularity, are in grave peril. The Universe belongs to those who, at least to some degree, have figured it out." -- Carl Sagan "Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known." -Carl Sagan
carl sagan... yeah. get getyourself a torrent downloader... and get his whole cosmos series. (or check see if they are back up on some video hosting site) thankfully, sagan is one of those who strive for an open but skeptical mind... sure he may not always have achieved this, but thats the nature of time, change and learning... can he always try again. i wonder if he has relaxed his stance on astrology yet from his stuffy accademic view of the BS you read in newspapers, as expressed in the cosmos series with much jeer and ridicule. check out the similar threads below: woo! carl sagan!
