  9. yeah literal 6 day is a joke. the only folks that believe that are super ignorant

I know cause I was one 10 years ago (when 18 I went to college, a Christian baptists one where my biology profesors taught us about both and told us t decide for ourselves which was true

  10. Yeah I really liked family guy too.. when I was in about 8th grade lol.. they have their moments at times but other than that Family Guy is nothing more than poop jokes for 30 years olds and repeated 'flash back' jokes that are so predictable and pointless it makes me wanna shoot myself "Remember that one time..." "Then that other time.." So no I wouldn't expect a show for adults who never matured to say too much good about an intelligent designer.

I do like the Family Guy where they mock god then show illuminati/masonic symbolism behind them.. if you've ever researched these groups you'd find this intereresting.
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6yqEN7ANBw]YouTube - Family Guy Illuminati Symbolism[/ame]

Coincidence that the symbol is right there?..

And the word day when translated from Hebrew, or greek, can't remember off the top of my head, means a certain period of time, not a 24 hour long period. It's quite similiar to saying 'Back in my grandfathers day..' or anything alike. When it says god created everything in 6 days, each day it mentions is a period of certain creations, not a literal 24 hour day.

  11. christian's crack me up. ooooooh i'm the booogey maaannn thou shalt lik ballz

  12. It really is. Christianity surely would not be as prevalent if more people were educated in the sciences (as well as in other additional fields of academia). They would clearly see the human origins of their scriptures and acknowledge the ignorance of the past and the progress that our species has made. No longer would our history and development be taken in vain.

Higher education will be instrumental in the continued progress of our society. These institutions instill a passion for truth and endear in its students the most scrupulous tools for understanding the nature of the universe and our place within it. In academia, only reasoned opinion can give rise to popularity. Skepticism and critical thought are valued foremost.

Imagine if higher education was not a luxury for the privileged few, but accessible to every human in the world... :smoke:

  13. no matter how you interpret it, that doesn't make a baseless theory and belief valid for consideration.

  14. It still happens in the wrong order.

  15. Exactly, the sequence of animal life that is claimed to be created in the scriptures do not coincide with the order that the scientific evidence shows. The texts are simply wrong.

  16. when you are trying to have a discussion with someone and their only defence when proved wrong is to ignore what you told them...very annoying

This is the kind of thinking they encourage...I know because I came up with this theory all on my own to explain the many different dating procedures showing the universe is billions of years old, here is what I came up with
"If god wanted to he could make a rock today that would date millions of years.". I later found out (I came up with that when I was 8) that modern 6-dayers actually use that argument!!

I know, but let the absurdity of that sink in...cause that really is how Christians think. and when you show them how the bible is not this error free text they think it is, they reply (again this is what I was taught) "the bible says the bible is right.".

It is both sad and scary how much ignorance and denial goes on in church

  17. Increasing speed and vibration, making matter from energy. We have the way to make matter and it can be made in less than a day and show to be millions of years old.
...as well as show the lay out of the universe.:hello:

Your science is crap, dude. Faulty to no end, full of errors and weak judgement calls. Built on assumptions that were nothing more than the vain imagination of God-hating liars.

Since you are so adament, we offer 'you' a challenge...

We challenge you to show us how matter was formed by whatever theory or another you follow around...show us the origins of matter(let alone life), i.e. make it happen.

Create matter from...nothing...via any machine or device you can as based on your theories.

We will make one based on ours and have it operational by then.

We will put both to the test and see who has the...goods...and can deliver and who just has...blah, blah, blah...

    Winner takes all...

    loser takes a swim.

according to Christianity only god can do what you speak...good luck getting him to show you proof. I have been talking to god for 28 years and he has yet to respond

as for atheist end...it does not seem as if you have read up on the evolution big bang ideas. If you can do that but do it objectively. I myself could nit do that for many years after leaving the brainwashing house and church I grew up in. It us very hard to be objective when you feel the view is in direct opposition to your very being

this is why this was so very hard on me at first...but if something cannot withstand my testing I cast it aside. I have not cast everythin Christianity taught me, it is a good religion once you take away all the absurd interpretations. the new testament is not too bad. mostly

also science does not make matter or give your life purpose...it is not a religion and the opposite of blind ignorant faith

science does this; observe nature, and explain...and have others test your explanation.

sadly when I observed my faith, my life, and the world (btw evolution is not in confliction with biblical principles) I realized the bible and this faith did not match reality

  19. Synthetic Life

A common argument used by theists to support their belief in God, is that life is so complicated that it could have only been made by God. Often this is accompanied with the assertion that there is a "vital force" that separates inanimate objects from living things, and that God is the source of this "vital force". This philosophy, called "vitalism", has now been totally discredited. The following research report in the highly respected peer-reviewed journal Science details the de novo creation of a complete functional virus from synthetic chemicals.

Some people will probably say that a virus is not a living thing, but that all depends on how you define life. Clearly a simple virus is not as complex as a mammal, but it does have much more properties associated with living things than properties associated with inanimate objects. For example viruses reproduce, evolve, contain genetic information, and have a life cycle. These are characteristics in common with a pet dog, not a pet rock.

Even today, the study of chemistry is divided into "organic" and "inorganic" chemistry. This is a throwback to an era when it was believed that only living things could create the carbon bonds that define the difference between organic and inorganic chemistry. This has been discredited in 1828, when Wöhler synthesized urea. The year 2002 marks another milestone in science, with man's first creation of a virus, a living thing, from nonliving material.

I have copied the complete article here along with the author's supplemental material at the end. (If you need to reference this paper, use a format like this: "Cello, J; Paul, A; Wimmer, E, Chemical Synthesis of Poliovirus cDNA: Generation of Infectious Virus in the Absence of Natural Template, Science 2002 297: 1016-1018")

  20. what about the miller urey experiment. life was formed by the EARTH. it is no way constrained to this rock though. one of the world's brightest mind's (carl sagan) has shown this again and again but if your going to let ignorance define your life then so be it. i could back and forth with all day showing you contradictions out of the bible but the only thing you can do is repeat what your preacher told to use as a defense when you get around anything that shows signs of intelligence.
