Careers, Success, Full blow pot head

Discussion in 'General' started by higherfire, Sep 15, 2012.

  1. As im sure there may be threads like this about jobs and careers

I was wondering if anyone is actually raking in piles of cash at their job but are full blown pot heads... Not occasional tokers... Smoking atleast 2-3 times a day

and by piles of cash atleast a 80k a year, with or without overtime etc

I just want some reassurance that i will be making $$$$$$ while being a fully functional stoner :smoke:

  2. Not yet but soon. ;)

  3. Its not that it can't happen but it's more unlikely the more you make. Over 100k a lot of employers drug test and sometimes it becomes more trouble than it's worth. Nevertheless, there are plenty of successful smokers just not many billionaires lol

  4. In january i start my new job as a cpa starting at $120k, full benefits, and a company car. :bongin: i gotta stop smoking in november but after i figure out their dt system (how often, randoms, ect...). I have smoked a few times a day for id say 95% of days or more since i was 17, and im almost 22.

  5. My friend, i am living proof that you can be a full blown stoner and still be successful. I've been smoking all day/everyday for 10+ years, and am a graduate of a two top 20 universities (BA & MBA) and currently work for a fortune 500 company making WELL over 100k. I often work while stoned and have no problem interacting with my clients (tho they dont know about it ofc haha) and have never run into any issues. Not one.

Point is - its all about how hard you work. The weed has nothing to do with how successful you ultimately can be. Key part is you DO have to work your ass off.

  6. Exactly what i want to hear! I pull good grades in college while being lifted, i wont let weed come before my GPA, so as long as i keep up the work i should be off in the right direction

  7. Yup, exactly. Professional on both senses of the word (corporate and pothead), and I suspect there are far more professionals out there than most think.

It would be nice if we could simply talk about it between each other though, without the bullshit stigmas associated with it.

This got me thinking about smokers in leadership positions. It's fairly well known that Ted Turner (TBS/TNT empire) smokes pot (even with his own son). Sir Richard Branson (Virgin empire) is a known toker as well.

So the question is, do any of the companies that they own/run/manage drug test for cannabis? I'd say that unless it's a matter of safety (certain jobs), it would be very hypocritical to find that someone got fired for this when "The Man" himself is toking it up.

  8. Actually, I bet they do test. Simply because its a function of stupid corporate policies written by lawyers who think weed is as dangerous as heroin.

  9. I mean you can be. If you own your own successful business, you can easily be pullin in 6 figures and can smoke all day, whos gonna test ya?

  10. I am a professional athlete. I don't make millions, but I made 70k last year. There's people at my level making 100k. Maybe next year :)

  11. the truth is there many more professionals that are potheads than most people think. They have huge tolerances and its pretty much impossible to tell they're high unless they tell u or smoke u out. I know many physicians that are potheads and even a couple that I've smoked with. And actually a lot of people making 6 figures or more every year don't get drug tested because a lot of those people smoke weed or do other drugs and the company would have to fire them when they test positive. Many companies can't afford to do that. Btw i know a lot of corporate lawyers that smoke also.

Most companies only drug test when you first get the job, so it's easy to prepare for. Company car could be an issue though - at my company if you get in an accident in a company car you immediately have to get tested, so you're at risk even if you werent high or didn't cause the accident. I heard one guy that's basically an old hippie doesn't even drive his company car for this reason.

  13. My father makes around 350-400k a year as a lawyer and has been a 4+ times a week smoker since university. Definitely possible to be a successful stoner if you take it seriously.

  14. checking in, get high 3x a day if not more.... sober during work though.... a lot of times im lightweight high when i arrive though, from not coming down fully from the previous (or continuous) high that is my life. I'm also extremely active, athletically, etc.

  15. Wages: work for someone else by the hour, on the clock. Your paycheck reflects hours put in regardless of efficient labor or progress.
Salary: fixed "income" with a regular pay and timely increases in pay over time. "Check" comes less than a weekly/biweekly basis.
BYOB: make what you deserve to be able to pay yourself with your own devices at the cost of all your spare/free/waking time of life. Benefits: no boss to fire you.

Between the three brackets, wages are capped for employees (unskilled labor), salaries are for paid professionals and/or experts (skilled work), or you harbor a unique talent no other individual can serve out to the world and be happy with the life you lead... money may or may not be made in one of these 3 methodologies.

All else fails....... 3D printers are getting very cheap...

  16. Lots of high paying computer folk here in Austin and loads of smoke here..

  17. My cousin made 250K last year and smokes every night before bed and keeps a constant state all weekend. It's definitely possible.

Although he quits at the drop of a hat when need be. Just keep in mind that weed will always be there waiting for you so when it comes to that or your career and drug testing don't even think twice about it. Sober up and get the job done.

  18. Im sure the very large scale recreational growers make a good amount of cash

Moderation I think is key here for some people, unless u grow lol. IMO, i think any amount of smoking is fine if you can afford it and get your work done. I recommend jobs that don't drug test like trades where you can be your own boss which helps in adjusting into whatever you wanna do. My friend had his own company and made like $100k in cash over a 5 month span.

  20. Still in school with hopes of the future. Vaping a ton though
