carbon filters

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by dsbigd99, Aug 31, 2012.

  1. Are there any carbon filters that are better than the rest or does it not matter?

  2. Phresh worked great for me. Started with a cheap htg that just didn't work. If security is a must I wouldn't cheap out personally.

  3. Phresh filters use carbon that isn't all uniform. This results in better compaction and better surface area contact. In other words... Phresh is the way to go. Mine eliminates 100% of the smell. And I used to stink up the whole damn complex.

  4. Thats what I wanted to know! thanx

My expierience has been the opposite unfortunetly. I may be picking stinky strains but all mine have wreaked in veg. My Barney's LSD stunk so bad at week three of veg you could smell it 15ft outside my house if i turned my fan off. The htg filter and a ton of ona got me through until I bought a phresh filter. Cheap filters aren't worth it in my opinion and I wish I had bought a better brand in the beginning.

  10. I bought a Can-33 filter about eight years ago and it's just now "wearing out". Used pretty much continuously with 100% effectiveness. Don't remember the brand of the previous ones I used but they didnt last as long.
The current one is still working but it's beginning to put a mild sour odor into the room.
    They are refillable as well.
And I agree with Joker, or maybe just also having stinky strains, but I'm running 15 minutes on 45 off during veg. During bloom it's 15 on - 15 off.

  11. I also use the can-33. Been running it for a year in constant use. Very happy with this product. You cant avoid it, buy a good one now or suffer the consequences later.

  12. How do you hook a can filter up to an air cooled hood???

  13. I agree with everyone recommending Phresh Filters. They eliminate 100% of the odor. It may not be needed for the first week or 2 of vegging, but after that your plants will stink up your whole house once they start to get big. Just connect ducting to your cool tube, run it out of your tent to a decent squirrel cage fan and then connect that to your filter. All of your air going out has to go through that filter to get scrubbed before exiting while fresh air is forced into the grow area. This traps that dank air inside of your grow area and also cools the grow area while circulating air.

  14. No but that's bomb soil

  15. Im telling u veg it's not need'd wk 4 to 5 flower. The smell 15 ft in front of your house from veg room no way not at all people need to quit miss leading folk's good luck and hope u don't waste money on 2 of those thing's A DRYER SHEET WILL CALM ANY VEG DOWN I RUN 50 PLANT'S N VEG OF AL KIND'S NO SMELL DUDE;S TRIPIN BEST OF LUCK

  16. Sorry Jeremy, but I have to disagree with you. I vegged two plants and they started to stink up my whole house once they entered the 3rd week of vegging. That was without a carbon filter placed on them. They may not stink right away, but as they get bigger they will produce a smell whether if they are flowering or not.

I'm not tripping at all. I have no reason to come on here and mislead anyone. My advice is based on factual expieriences. Your experience may differ, but that doesn't make mine any less true.

A dryer sheet wont do Jack shit for a smelly plant. That has to be the most ignorant thing I have ever heard.

  18. A dryer sheet will actually ruin your crop or at least can ruin your crop. I have heard of people trying to use those and then their bud ends up smelling like whatever dryer sheets that they used. I agree with you, thats not a good idea. Carbon filter is the only way to go and is needed for late veg in my opinion also.

  19. I said will calm any veg room down meaning placed on a shelf duh ..
secondly every grow i have ever been to has no filter in veg . Go buy one all u want .
I know for a fact that me smoking a bowl is 10x smellier then a veg room u guy's are hilarious factual experience huh sure your one strain so stinky in veg well if dude's trying to b so incognito . grow something that doesn't stink in veg several out there, outa my 10 strain's in veg rt now not one smell's so bad or at all for that matter that i need to go buy a 100 dollar pointless filter different stroke's for different folk's

  20. So calm down mr dryer sheet putting word's n my mouth what a putts .
