carbon filter

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Dazaroo, Oct 21, 2018.

  1. Yo people. I'm doing my first grow in the loft in a 120x120x200 tent and was wondering if I need a carbon filter for veg? My plant doesn't really smell yet so just wanted to know if it's essential at this stage. (I have a 5" carbon filter ready to go) pic of the plant 20181020_110852.jpg

  2. You should be ok. You don’t really need it till your a couple weeks into flower but all strains are different. Some put off scent during veg but it’s usually not bad. Its actually up to you though. If you start smelling them from outside your loft it might be time to put up your filter.

  3. Had to decide on this as well for my first run here. The plants started smelling pretty dank when I transfered to 1 Gallons. Strain is blue cookies.

So that's prob like around a month into veg because I started with cups. Started running the filter pretty early on honestly, but vented out the air from the beginning with the inline fan.

  4. The smell associated with cannabis comes from the buds not leaves and stems so you're good until flower. A vegging plant will have a plant matter smell like most plants but it's not typically strong.

  5. Really? Because I trimmed up some almost rest buds and the leaves reaked but now the buds still on plant don’t have much scent

You have 1 strange ass plant if the bud smell comes from the leaves. 1 of a kind type shit. Hope that changes for you before you harvest or you're going to be very disappointed. In 35 years of growing cannabis I've never had a plant that the bud smell doesn't come from the bud. I've seen a few newbies claim it but after they get some experience they realize they were wrong.

Yes the bud smell comes from the buds. Not the leaves or the stems. That's just plant material. The terpenes are in the buds, therefore the classic cannabis smell we all love and know comes from the buds. I know I would be disappointed if it didn't.

  7. Yo KS! Look mate, atm I have 3x 300w LED in there but only running 2! Well 1 now as I thought 2 might be to much for the size of plant. Using mars hydro 300w and have 2 other ones slighty cheaper which I bought first. You sound like a man who knows his green. For the size of that plant what ya reckon run? 1,2 or 3?
