Carbon filter system

    So I got a 6 inch system off Amazon. I haven't ever had a carbon filter so I'm hoping that it has the rest of the instructions or I have to watch a video or something. Anyway I plugged the fan in without anything else and my God it's powerful I believe at least 400 cfm and smoooth sounding but loud because of the power. My question is it going to be this loud after the filter and ducting is hooked up and if it's inside the tent will that quieten it? I can't hook everything up for a bit because I don't have the tent. I have been growing inside the closet but haven't even went through an entire harvest so I'm waiting until I get everything I want/need so I can try a proper harvest but damn that fan is loud. Honestly now that I have a 6 inch I'm thinking a 4 would have been big enough but I got the 6 used/ new and everything seems good, just more power than I expected

    You need a speed controller and insulated ducting, possible even a muffler depending on your situation.

    It has a speed control, ducting and I guess what people call the can. My other question is about this can as I said I'm completely new. But I didn't know 1 end was closed off like that. IMG_20200102_164116.jpg

    Got a pic of it all? 1 end of the carbon filter is supposed to be sealed.

    Maybe a muffler would silence it, and insulated ducting.

    It won't be quiet without it, even all set up.

    Not sure it will be with it, I've only ran with regular ducting and no muffler

    I will load it up as soon as I can. I have some family coming for the weekend late Christmas because they couldn't be here but I will asap. Yes though that picture I posted of it is the sealed end

    What does a muffler look like or do you have a picture? Can I Google muffler for carbon filter system? I think I will just to see lol

    Also you said you ran without a muffler. How loud was it to you? I mean was it uncomfortable because me and my brother were planning to set like a 3x3 tent up in his bedroom.

    Not sure about muffler info. My tent was in another room with the door closed, could still hear the fan in the living room.

    I feel like alot of the noise is actually air moving thru the ducting, so the insulated ducting would help in that aspect.

    Think of it as a white noise in his bedroom :)


    You may not even need an exhaust. Let's see what temps look like, have you decided on lighting?


    My tents currently in a basement, exhaust is hooked up and everything but it's not running, I'm using a 600w hid bulb, basement is like 50 degrees so with the HID lighting my tent stays around 70 lights on.

    Although when I flip I may have to run the exhaust because it's humid down there
