Hey guys i am about to invest in a carbon filter in my room, was wondering a few things. My room is 12'x10' was wondering what size filter would be good for this? Also curious if you have to run ventilation off of the filter into say the attic or if the filter can just sit freely in the room itself and keep recirculating the air within the room and be effective.
You can just have the fan dumping the air in the room but it will probably be pretty loud...also it wont remove any heat from the room Your room is a similar size to my room and I run a 6" carbonaire filter, has about 40lb of carbon in it. You will also need a good quality fan. This is what I have and where I got it... very good prices and it works great plantlightinghyroponics.com filter Carbonaire 6 Inch Carbon Filter - Plantlighting Hydroponics fans I have the vortex Vortex 6 inch 449 CFM High Power Inline Fan - Plantlighting Hydroponics Valueline 6 Inch 435 CFM Centrifugal Inline Fan - Plantlighting Hydroponics Active Air 6" 400 CFM In-line Duct Fan - Plantlighting Hydroponics you may also want to get a speed controller so that you can adjust the speed Hydrofarm Variable Speed Fan Control - Plantlighting Hydroponics Fantech Variable Speed Fan Control - Plantlighting Hydroponics
O meant to ask this suffieciantly removes smell from a room that big??? I think i will run the duct work into my attic i live in condos that are 1 level and connected to each other, does this sound like what you would do in my situation?
My setup works very well, but I duct it outside... I never smell anything where it comes out or in the rest of my house... you will smell it a bit in the room but the negative pressure created by the fan means that there is only air going into the room and not out... keeping any smell in the room, and then sucked thru the filter.
You should be good... I'd just check it from time to time. The speed controller will help with that, by turning it down it will create a lil more dwell time for the air to pass the carbon.
