I had this idea instead of buying the carbon filter piece could u just a metal screen in your down stem and then put carbon in the down stem. I made a picture to show you my idea. Any thoughts i haven't tried this yet
People have ideas like this all the time in effort to save money. But in reality is 10-20 dollars for a Carbon Filter and some Carbon really worth all of the time spent on trying to jam a screen in your downstem just right so that it stays wedged in there to hold the carbon? Not only to mention that it could break the stem if you aren't careful, and you could easily pull the screen out just when you go to clear the chamber. And I don't think carbon in your bong water would be too fun >.<. I think people have awesome ideas all the time, just like this one. I just don't think it's practical when CF's are already a pretty cheap attachment.
i like where yah head at but they already makes these in all glass, pick one up and let us know how it is i havnt seen much about them
I did this when I broke my carbon filter as a temp until my new one came in. It worked okay, but the narrower chamber of the downstem will give you a good amount of drag. Keeping the screen to stay in place is also a pretty big bitch.
