Car stereo

  1. i hate being the generic old guy that doesnt know jack shit when it comes to electronics these days but sometimes i cant help it.

on to the dilema at hand:
im about to get a new car, which isnt actually new but it will be to me. i hear the sound system in 70s beetles is sub-par so i plan on replacing it and im not sure what is best for my preferences.

the music i listen to is metal some rap and some other country like willy nelson johnny cash or kris kristopherson. blame my grandson for the metal and rap, he got me into it.

what would be the best audio setup for that? speakers wise that is, ive already got a stereo picked out.

  2. Speaker setup for most cars is the same, 4 mids, 4 tweeters, and a sub, in my opinion at leaset. Only get more subs if you're into rap or some deep techno or somethin. You need an amp for the sub no doubt, maybe for mids bu thats your choice. A headunit (display, cds) which will power tweeters easy, some high gauge wire...

    Am i missing anything?

  3. only that a beetle is probably 1/4 the size of a normal car so i probably couldnt fit all of that in there if i gutted the interior and used a bucket for a seat, but then again, you never know.
